Gearheadengineer
Nice looking car. Asking price of $10k yet needs paint work and full interior. Seems like a lot for a Capri four door. Something looks off about the driver’s side rocker and front fender. Bring a magnet.
John_S_in_Penna
For 1957 Lincolns, 2-door hardtops and convertibles are readily available. However, 4-door hardtops are very seldom seen. Hardly anyone notices that fact, and hardly anyone cares, but this is a truly rare body style. And yet, the 4-door hardtops have excellent styling. There are no pictures of the interior, so we can't see what's needed. One would never recoup his costs in repainting, redoing the interior, rechroming, and other work possibly needed, but if I had no limits to my funds, I'd like to see this car preserved! One can't say, "I like this car, but it's not worth it. I'll just wait until an excellent 4-door hardtop comes along." He might be waiting for many years. John_S_in_Penna
Here is the only other 1957 Lincoln 4-door hardtop I recall seeing, whether in person or advertised. It was in the car corral at Hershey in 2017, for sale by a Frenchman. It was beautifully restored Premiere, but the interior was entirely incorrect and the price was an absurd $75,000! 58L-Y8
Breaking down the percentages of 1957 Lincolns by body style results as follows: 2dr hardtops: 44.3% 4dr hardtops: 30.8% 4dr sedans...: 16.0% 2dr convertibles: 8.9% Of the model series, Capri and Premiere, the latter though more expensive was the more popular at 85.5%. Among all model, the Capri 4dr hardtop sold the least at just 1,451 cars. On a personal note: as a car-crazed youth in the late 1950's/early 1960's, every trip passing by Arkport Motors Lincoln-Mercury, Arkport, NY required a stop-in for me to check out the new and used Lincolns. Being a "Ford family" then, Lincoln was the best. Imagine how crestfallen I was when I discovered Lincoln Capris such as this car still came with crank windows...just like our plain jane Ford! They were henceforth known as "crank-window Capris" to this discerning youth...

Today, from my considerable car-show and ad-browsing experience, I estimate: 2-door hardtops: 48% 4-door hardtops: 2% 4-door sedans: 2% 2-door convertibles: 48% With such estimates, note how the 4-door hardtops went from being one-third of the 1957 Lincolns to one-fiftieth! John: Very astute observations on your part regarding how the current show-car and advertised representation is badly distorted relative to the initial popularity of various body styles. Unhappily, it also makes attending many shows and cruise nights a major yawn...bereft of variety. Steve
D2R
Probably unlike many Lincoln fans, I like this model year and body style very much, just... not in this kind of condition. Seems to need a decent amount of body work besides the interior. Also not a fan of the blue-on-white color combo. A light pink-ish/beige one has recently sold on Mecum for ~ $54,000. So yes, these are rare cars, and it seems they are getting pricier. Hagerty estimate for a #1 condition car was about $40000, AFAIR. deac
I had a 54 green 4 door and I didn't think it was anything special and I ended selling. I was extremely lucky and got 17 grand for it. The buyer had it for a few years and then put it back up for sale and could not sell it. It sat and sat and then he consigned it to a classic car dealer and the damn thing would not sell. Point of this is mid 50 Lincolns are not something I would ever again consider!!
kingrudy
I like the design of this car, but the bumpers are rusted and the interior is non existent. The first thing that I noticed are the oversized wide white walls (looks like 4"), makes the car look like a clown car. If I didn't know how much an interior, paint and chrome would cost then I might buy this car. The seller is in a hole with this car and he is hoping someone will take it off his hands.
