TroyD10
Hi. Looking for help to positively identify my grandfather’s car in hopes to buy the same. The best I came up with so far is that it is either a 1931 Oldsmobile F 31 or Buick 56C. I’ve ruled out Ford and Chevy and the Buick 96C. I could’ve missed the year though. Key characteristics are the three hinge door, golf club storage door and the door cutout shape around the rear wheel, and the location of the soft top arm attachment above the golf club door and the curve of the arm. It would’ve helped tremendously if I could make out the ornament. This is the only picture my family has. I hope someone out there can help me out. Leif Holmberg
If you can scann the photo in a resolution 10 times higher than it is now you easily se what it is.(This picture are 70kb )

TroyD10
Thanks. I didn’t even think of looking at the original photo and scanning at a higher resolution. I saw that Olds listing! Wish I new it was being auctioned 😞 Below are the two makes, the Olds followed by the Buick. I can’t tell them apart and can’t tell if one is an exact match. Thanks for your inputs! drwatson
The rumble seat step seems a better match on the '31 Olds. Note top of the Buick's radiator has a protruding hump, Olds doesn't. Maybe you can see difference in your photo. You're right that '31 Olds was/is a good catch. Good Luck.
Gunsmoke
The RS Step location and and hood louver pattern (Olds has an extra border) suggest '31 Olds.
TroyD10
Thanks Gunsmike & drwatson. I’ll look more closely at the step and louvre.
DLynskey
You can't see the golf club door or hood louvres on this Oldsmobile, but the top, landau bars and door hinges match . Picture taken in 1958.
TroyD10
I wonder if they had the option to get wire or wood wheels. Hope that Olds is still around today. Thanks for the pic!
