Paul S Searcy
Lost my ignition key to my 1923 Buick Roadster Conv 6 cyl. Cannot find out what key blank is compatible. Locksmiths do not seem to have code books that go back that far. One of them told me he thought the correct key was Basco Briggs and Stratton Groove 1, 1098 M - B1. If anyone knows please email me at: pss_mls@yahoo.com. Thank you. Paul S Searcy

Paul S Searcy You will need to take the lock cylinder to a lock smith to get a new key made. The engine number in those years no not match the chassis number which would not match the body job number. Once in a while the engine & chassis might match, but that would be a very rare case. Paul S Searcy
Thank you, Larry. I was afraid of something like that. What is the best way to keep it as "original as possible?" Maybe a New Old Stock brass key cut to match the lock cylinder, if I can find the correct key blank? Or a used key that would match?
Marty Roth
As Larry noted, a good old-school locksmith should be able to identify and match the keyway, and then be able to create a matching key, or re-key the lock to a new one. Serial numbers will not help you. Edited April 4, 2022 by Marty Roth (see edit history)
Morgan Wright
This is the key to my 1917 Buick. It came with the NOS ignition so it's 100+ years old and the original. Sargent number 22 . Mikefit
If I remember I used a B&S key blank but had to file the thickness down some was trying and file till it would slide in then just a matter of cutting the key to fit the tumblers and I’m no lock smith. Larry Schramm
For some key humor, the key on the left is for my 1918 Buick Truck and the on on the right is for my 1915 Buick Truck. Try finding those blanks.
Hubert_25-25
Paul, The 1925 Buick has a transmission lock. These are Yale. Jessersclassickeys.com has correct blanks. Hugh Edited April 5, 2022 by Hubert_25-25 (see edit history)
