gfrivi
How do you know if a 1964 Buick Riviera came from the factory with a Dual Quad Setup?
71GS
Should be a K X coded block with matching serial #. On the front rail in front of the valley pan.
RivNut
As 71GS stated above, you should look for a KX in the area on the illustration for the PRODUCTION CODE NUMBER. The one in the illustration is MT. That would be for a 1966 401. The ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER should match your car's VIN. K is the code for 1964; X is for the dual quad Super Wildcat 425. Edited April 9, 2021 by RivNut I didn't spell check (see edit history)

That’s a great illustration of it. Thanks Ed👍

awk409ak
Here are some pictures of the KX id and the engine number. I think the engine number should match the vin tag. Art 1
RivNut
@awk409ak Outstanding pictures. Should leave the next guy with no questions as to how to properly identify a true Super Wildcat installation. If these numbers do not match, you are looking at a clone.
awk409ak
Ed, thanks. I clean the paint away and then put clear over it. I know, I know it did not come that way, but easier to read. The KX 078, is the 078 a sequential number? Just wondering why not four digits, like 0078, because there were only 2122 of these for 64, 3808 for 65, or maybe they did not know how many were going to be made at the time. psychostang
078 is the production date. 78 days from Jan 1, 1963
RivNut
78 days? The 78th day of 1963 was March 19th. Way too soon for 1964 production to have begun. I don't know if anyone has figured out what those numbers represent. I haven't heard of anything.
telriv
Pretty early in the production run 7K1005242. Mine was made 12D meaning 4th week of '63 & the VIN/Engine # is 7K107.
awk409ak
Mine was 8D (forth week of August 63), so yes pretty early. That's why I was asking what the 078 meant. Usually it would be a sequential number wouldn't you think? Art
