No Reserve: Armored 1980 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000 5-Speed

Not what people usually think of when they hear armored car.

This 1980 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000 Blindata was sold new in Cetraro, Italy, to Francesco “Franco” Muto, a reputed member of the Italian mafia. The car is said to have been modified in period by armored vehicle specialist Marazzi, with additions including 1,300 pounds of armor plating, a dual fire suppression system, bulletproof wheels and tires, and more. Finished in white with a brown velour interior, the car is powered by a 2.0L inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle.

15″ steel wheels are said to have been bulletproofed during the modifications, and are mounted with older Dunlop Denovo run-flat tires measuring 195/65.

In 1972 Dunlop launched the Total Mobility Tyre (later Denovo) "fail-safe" wheel and tire system that became optional equipment on the Rover P6 3500 in 1973,[3] and by 1983 evolved into the TD/Denloc which became standard equipment across the whole Austin Metro range.

So they are not "bullet proof"

Intercom System is simply a CB radio that has a outside PA feature.

A thugs getaway car? I doesn't look like mommy will let him take it out of the yard.

I suppose it is what it is but I sure don't need it.

The owner did not get to use it for very long. Police took him into custody in 1981. And it is a 1980 model. It has only 8,000 miles on the odometer, and that would be accurate. (13,000 kilometers) It was being stored until his release, and it ended up he didn't reclaim it. Current owner got hold of it in 2013.
