Graham Man
Anybody read this book? I am looking for a copy. It is the story of Alice Ramsey's 1908 cross county trip in a 1908 Maxwell. A 3,800-mile journey from Hell Gate in Manhattan, New York, to San Francisco, California. Original Publication was in 1961, republished in 2005. 1961 Copy 2005 Copy Edited May 8, 2018 by Graham Man Added Pictures (see edit history)
capngrog
It appears that copies are available on Amazon; however, they seem to be very expensive ($79 - $150). Try this link: https://www.amazon.com/Alices-Drive-Republishing-Veil-Duster/dp/1880397560 Other sources of the book may be available. Let us know how you make out. It sounds like a very interesting story. Cheers, Grog
Graham Man
I have never used Amazon. I was curious if the book is any good?
Rusty_OToole
If it is too expensive you may be able to get one on interlibrary loan from your public library.
Graham Man
Tried that all ready, no copies in MN public libraries. Don't get me started on what they do with books that don't get checked out...surprised we still have the Constitution.
1912Staver
Must be a very small print run, it is expensive from all my regular sources, Abebook, Ebay, Amazon. Usually one of the three has something at the cheaper end, not this title. Greg in Canada
capngrog
"VEIL, DUSTER, AND TIRE IRON" If she was travelling alone back in those days of the Wild West, I'll bet the tire iron served a dual purpose. Cheers, Grog
1937hd45
The 100 year anniversary of that run was made with a accurate replica of that Maxwell, I was happy to supply the top assemble for the car. Bob
4Hud
It is a great book. Alice was, in my opinion, the top female trailblazer in the early years of the automobile.
