Jack Worstell Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Are reproroduction gas tanks for 1937 Specials ( 4dr sedan) available ?? Jack Worstell jlwmaster@aol.com
LAS VEGAS DAVE Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I have a nice one but the neck has been changed over to the opposite side to fit a 38. It was a real clean NOT DENTED TANK. IT COULD BE CHANGED BACK. PROBABLY COST A LOT TO SHIP.
Jack Worstell Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Dave.....it's my buddy that's looking for a good tank. I will see him Thursday and then get back to you if he is interested. How much do you want for the tank ? Jack
Gary W Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I could not find any '37 tanks being reproduced. Just as another option, I shipped my tank to Moyer Tank Renu. They got all the dents out, and coated the inside with a powder-coating like substance and I'm extremely satisfied with the work.
Jack Worstell Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Gary...thanks for the tip. The problem is that the existing tank came from something other than a 1937 Special ...it is in decent shape .........but it is a poor fit.. Jack

I would like to trade it for a 38 tank in good condition. Edited December 13, 2017 by LAS VEGAS DAVE (see edit history)
39BuickEight Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 for my 1939 I bought a Chevy reproduction tank from tanks, Inc. and installed it backwards and fabbed up the filler neck. (the dimensions were the same, the filler neck is just on the wrong side). Just an idea.
suchan Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Check out this edition of Torque Tube: A '72 Nova gas tank is the right size and shape, needs the filler moved, etc.
suchan Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I tried to post the link, and the whole thing popped up. Don't know if the link is readable. Anyway, March/April 2002 edition.
bobj49f2 Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I know of a person who had a new tank made, I don't know if he's member here or not. http://www.rockvalleyantiqueautoparts.com/ndex.htm Chevs from the '40s has Chevy gas tanks that look like they might fit, https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/16121/Chevrolet_Gas_Tank_Steel_Original_Style_Except_3Passenger.html. This one is for a '37, it's about 3" wider than the stock Buick tank. I was lucky enough to find an NOS tank on eBay a few years back for $100. I just did a search for "gas tank" Here's a drawing of the original tank I did, you can use it to have someone build one.
Jack Worstell Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 Bob....thanks for the info. Jack
