Guest Toscana Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I have this old picture of a car but have no idea what it is. Maybe someone with better knowledge can identify this car. License plate is 1935 Illinois. old car.pdf
Guest Toscana Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Okay I think I uploaded the photo correctly..
Guest Toscana Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Bought the framed 11 x 15 picture at an estate sale for a buck because of the gas pumps and hung it in my office. But the more I look at it I wonder what the car is?
keiser31 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) It started out as a 1933 Auburn cabriolet and was customized. Edited November 13, 2017 by keiser31 (see edit history) 1
Guest Toscana Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Okay Thanks... I was looking for that curved front bumper on something and couldn't find it.
mikewest Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 The car is a "Salon" model . The custom models didn't have the twisted bumper. The disc wheels also a upgrade and available on both models.
Gunsmoke Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I count 26 or 27 louvers on the 33 Auburn Cabriolet hood, and 32 louvers on the unidentified car's hood. So, perhaps we still need some additional explanation, such as maybe a earlier or later hood? Passenger side tail light with a license bracket? Perhaps added by owner. Chrome strips on rear fender? An option? Hubcaps look genuine, but Auburn? While appears mopstly '33 Auburn, that grill is something else. If home=made, very well done even if a bit awkward.
Grandpa Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 The customized Auburn is a V-12 model, which has a longer hood (with 31 louvers). The blue Auburn, pictured above, is an eight cylinder model. Grandpa
Dave Henderson Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 The '34 Auburn 12 shared this body also, while the 8 cylinder models got the new Al Leamy-styled body, which didn't go over well and was restyled for '35 by Gordon Buehrig.
