I think I'm going to have to put in a solid state vibrator replace the buffer capacitor any electrolytic capacitor any paper capacitor. By chance do you know if any of this can be done without removing the radio ( my buddy keeps the car at his place about 30 minutes away....so it's not handy fro me to look at. MCHinson Posted July 24, 2017 Share Posted July 24, 2017 I think you will need to remove the radio from the car to be able to do any work to it. Getting it in and out will be a pain. I am installing a radio in my '37 that did not have one originally so the wiring diagram would be appreciated. Also, how do you test the radio on the bench. Jack Worstell Posted July 25, 2017 Author Share Posted July 25, 2017 Gary....it's easy enough to hook up power and ground......but do you have an antenna for it ? Hard to really test without an antenna, And I don't think ( but not sure ) that the antenna port in the radio will receive a modern RCA male jack. If you haven't installed it yet....it would sure be good to replace the vibrator with a solid state one. And replace these capacitors : the buffer capacitor any electrolytic ones and any paper ones and any coupling capacitors. If Larry can post his info....you will have a good start on how to do this. dibarlaw Posted July 26, 2017 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Sorry to take so long but I tried to get as good a resolution as possible. Some of the page files were over 19 mb. When I resized the images the photographs showed up with a screen effect similar to a bad halftone. The larger files have the photos crisp. Here goes... Pages 2 and 24 are blank.
