37 Buick Special
Well, a not so rare request for someone trying to track down a 1937 Buick exhaust manifold. Seems they are problematic. Mine is a bit short of a disaster. Anyone out there with a spare I would like to hear from. Thanks

1939_Buick
Buick exhaust manifolds are know to crack. Do you have the exhaust port guide rings Try (a) http://bobsautomobilia.com/ for a repro (b) Dave T
37 Buick Special
Thank you Dave. I have the exhaust port guide rings. I believe Bob's only has 1939 and newer repros. I will check. Regards
Dynaflash8
I learned something new today. The '37 exhaust manifold was different from the '39....I don't know how, but parts books vary. One Master book says 34-38 is the same, another one says only '37-38 are the same. They all say 39 and up are the same. I have one of each, 37 and 39, and I can't see the difference. Often times the numbers in the books have to do with some very minor differences. I would try a '39-49 exhaust manifold. Problem is the intakes are definitely different because of the number of bolts for the carburetor.
1937-44
Dave where are you located? I'm in Northeast Ohio but unfortunately it seems shipping is somewhat prohibitively expensive to me depending on where you are located.
37 Buick Special
1937-44, Thank you very much for your reply. Well I was just in your neighborhood last month. Kent and Wellington. I am in Northern California but I would be willing to pay shipping if you have a manifold. Regards
1937-44
Planning on coming back to Kent I'm in the next city North? I'm guessing shipping would be $60-$70. Perhaps one will become available closer to your location. Have you tried asking on the 1937-1938 Yahoo group? Carl
37 Buick Special
No plans for quite some time. That would be fine with me regarding shipping. Plus a little for you packing it up. What are you asking for it? Not familiar with the Yahoo group. Thanks
1937-44
I removed an exhaust manifold today and took a couple pictures, but came in to watch the Browns lose again. I'll post a few pictures shortly. Like I said you might try the yahoo group first as many members are on the west coast. Free to join but I wouldn't recommend daily updates as sometimes they can get off subject and have a lot of posts on some days. 1937-44
I ran out of daylight and will hopefully look at the manifold closer in daylight tomorrow. Carl
Dynaflash8
That tube looking thing in the middle is not part of a 39-up manifold. I don't know what that does. Matt Hinson is the Editor for the 37-38 Buick sub-club of the BCA.
1937-44
The tube in the middle is for the 1937 Special automatic choke used on the Stromberg AA-1. Matt is the editor of the 36-38 Club. The old 37-38 Club went defunct in I think 2005.. The Yahoo group is a totally separate entity. dibarlaw
To be aware. I one has a MARVEL(as I do) carb set up instead of the Stromberg, the manifold will be a bit different.
1937-44
Larry are you sure the exhaust manifolds are different? Intake manifolds are different depending on the carburetor/choke but I'm pretty sure the exhaust manifolds are the same. I just checked my 1928-1947 Parts list and it lists the same number for 1934-1938 Series 40 cars. Group 3.601 Part number 1298001 Carl Edited November 30, 2016 by 1937-44 (see edit history)
37 Buick Special
I will be reinstalling an exhaust manifold I purchased from Dave. Anyone know what size Belleville washers I should be using. I want this original and done right. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
