We were out driving yesterday and picked this up.  Does anyone recognize?

Looks to me like a cast aluminum pan, on a car, in a trailer, with a chunk missing.

Which any good welder could readily fix with a TIG.

 

Do I get a "prize" ?

Positive crankcase ventilation? No. I believe more like NEGATIVE crankcase ventilation.

What was the SOUND like? 

 

I had what sounded like a rod throw in my 40 Ford powered by a Olds Rocket,  but it was a fan blade tearing through the right front fender.  Man did the engine ever shake.

You got the prize.  Driving the '15 truck about 28 mph on tour with everything going well and all of a sudden with no warning, clang,clang, etc.

 

Any one have a rod & maybe a piston they would be willing to part with?  It is for the 1915 +- a year Buick engine with the 3-3/4 inch piston and a I believe 5 inch stroke.  I will post the picture of the rod & part number when I get back from the tour and get the engine apart.
