DonMicheletti
I have rebuilt them before. I used a thin silicone sheet that had fabric imbeded in ti. it was very thin. I doubled the diaphragms and used a silicone sealer around the edge on assemblt. Unfortunately I have forgotten where I bought the stuff - maybe Mc Master Carr. One was over 30 years ago and it is still working fine.
Owen_Dyneto
Depending on how well the substitute material matches the original with regard to flex properties you may have to recalibrate the spring/shim pack to match the OEM specifications. Best done on a distributor test machine like a Sun.

Digger914
The cars I do are new enough to be infested by these things and old enough that you can't buy a new replacement for love nor money. My source for new diaphragm material comes from similar sized donor vacuum modules harvested from 80's and 90's AC systems at the U-pull yard. Roger Zimmermann
I believe Terrill Machine in Texas is rebuilding those vacuum control parts. Edited June 1, 2016 by Roger Zimmermann (see edit history)
