keiser31
#1 1936 Plymouth. #2 1934 Ford. #3 1936 Plymouth. #4 1933 Ford with a 1934 Dodge on the right in the background and I am not sure what the coupe is in the background on the left. #5 1936 Plymouth. Dandy Dave
Yup. Keiser31 has them nailed. Love that 34 Ford Deluxe Roadster. 36 Plymouth looks like a Deluxe P2 model. Dandy Dave!
Curti
In these pictures, how do you tell a 33 from a 34 Ford ? Edited April 2, 2016 by Curti (see edit history)
keiser31
The '34 Ford is a cabriolet, not a roadster. The 1933 Ford grille has a slight curve toward the bumper and the 1934 grille has straight bars.
snoopcat
Thanks everyone. The big surprise was that the 36 Plymouth was not a Ford. You guys are awesome We will meet again.
1937hd45
The 1934 Ford has two hood handles per side, the 1933 had one in the center, easy clue when you just have a side shot. Bob
Dave Henderson
How I differentiate a '33 Ford from a '34 is by looking at the thickness of the chromed perimeter of the radiator shell. The '34's is noticeably heavier, giving it a stronger appearance. The more I look at the car in the background of the '33 Ford the more it looks like a '34 Chevy. The hood side louvers appear to be correct for a Chevy. What gives the appearance of a chromed radiator shell which the Chevy wouldn't have may just be the sun shining on it, I compared that surface with the same angle of the front fender, which "lights up" similarly. The radiator ornament at first looks like the Dodge ram, but the picture is fuzzy, and could be showing the forward leaning lower part of a Chevy one. Finally, the headlights look a bit small for it to be a '34 Dodge. Edited April 3, 2016 by Dave Henderson (see edit history)
Curti
I think the car in the background is 35 Chevy Master with a deluxe hood ornament.
keiser31
I am still thinking Dodge in the background....the headlights look right to me as well as the radiator shroud depth....of course, I could always be incorrect. Dave Henderson
Curti, I agree, it could also be a '35, except I think you meant to say '35 Standard. The Master had a completely new body with a more rounded grille..
Curti
A 35 standard very closely resembled a 34. The 35 standard & 34 standard and master did not have that front fender. At this point, I think John is right
joespoolhall
I think the one in the background might be a 1935 Pontiac 8 cylinder with the Indian Princess hood ornament. it's hard to tell . . . .

The car in question has louvers on the hood side unlike the Pontiac. Here is another shot of a '34 Dodge Brothers.... Dave Henderson
Yes, it's definately not a '35 Pontiac, (my first car was one back in the dark ages). As for the fender, I can't conclusively tell, the picture quality and the partial shot leaves something to be desired. The background mystery car' fender seems to be a bit more full and have a more abrupt rear curve than a Dodge's.
Amphicar BUYER
Another 33 vs 34 Ford is the crank hole for a 33 is round, 34 is the shape of the grill. 33, single hood latch, 34 has 2 33 does not have a ledge for the rear edge of the hood to sit in at the top of the firewall where 34 does.
