Guest BigDogDaddy
From the Hemmings daily blog. A car that has not been seen for more than 60 years. The two young gentlemen who built were inspired by the Le Sabre concept car. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2016/02/08/unseen-for-more-than-60-years-the-one-off-manta-ray-will-once-again-return-to-the-spotlight/
smithbrother
The lack of wheel openings IMO makes it look like a bath tub turned over. Also the lack of any side appeal hurts this piece, IMODale in Indy Edited February 10, 2016 by smithbrother (see edit history)
Restorer32
I can see why they hid it for 60 years.
RivNut
Aw! Come on guys, put yourself back in the '50's with the dawning of the jet age. The Korean War - our F86 Sabre jets knocking the Soviet's MIG-15's out of the sky right and left. Get into the spirit of the times.

60FlatTop
Aw, come on, guys, it's taken out of context. 1959 was when I bought my first Rod & Custom Magazine (the one with the yellow coupes) and my Mother's cousin was still driving his '32 Ford into town. It was 13 years after WWII and even though all the guys who hung around lying that "they were a fighter pilot in the war" were fading out;and that's pretty much who they built cars for, at least showy ones. Updating it a few years and it has all the style of a Jaguar XK8, you know, the Taurus convertible or was it a Contour.Bernie
smithbrother
Or a 50's Hudson, tub turned over, you know the car you STEPPED down to get in, and FELL out to get out.Dale in Indy

Guest
I can see why they hid it for 60 years. X2 !!! the dawn of the jet age was August 1939. 5219
I always thought the Le Sabre was butt ugly. This car is even uglier.
60FlatTop
How about an upside down bathtub with a shiny chicken roosting on the front? The Manta guy probably thought that style would look good modified. Bernie Edited February 11, 2016 by 60FlatTop (see edit history)
