Pete Phillips
I made a 200-mile trip yesterday to see and photograph this car. It is in central Texas near Belton, north of Austin, stored in an enclosed trailer until the owner can figure out what to do with it. It is a 1914 model B-37 touring car, 4-cylinders, original paint, top, upholstery and side curtains, engine stuck so not running, a real time warp. It was apparently used in the early 1930s by a Buick dealer to promote the durability of Buicks. It has foot-tall white lettering painted on each side of the car, something to the effect of "Buy a Buick for service, this one proves it, 17 years", which would place the advertising in 1931. It was difficult to photograph the car due to it being inside the trailer. If anyone has any knowledge about the car's history, I and the current owner would like to know. The previous owner was in Florence, Texas, which is also north of Austin near Salado, Texas. The car has obviously been stored indoors for decades, and is in fairly decent shape for a 102-year-old, unrestored automobile. Look for an article on this car in the Buick Bugle in an upcoming month. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
dibarlaw
Pete: I will look forward to the article. I have already lost out on 3 1914-37s. Translation, all too expensive, one too nice, one too rough with missing pieces and one just about right but with radiator, wheel and upholstery issues. Just like "Goldilocks and the 3 bears".

I'd be curious to hear more about this car - it appears to have at least one bent push rod, so it'd be interesting to see what the rest of the mechanical condition is like
dibarlaw
I believe that there was a full side view of this car posted on the forum over a year ago. It was shown in a garage at the time. I know we asked questions about it at the time.
dibarlaw
I am unable to zoom in any farther but I see that the first cylinder rocker assembly looks to be removed and just sitting on top of the casting. I found it! Here is the photo that was posted a while back.Probably its 2nd top since the original would not have gypsy sides. Looks to have at least the same amount of upholstery as the one we offered on in New York. I thought it looked like that, possibly related to the seemingly bent push rod and someones started to take it apart
Pete Phillips
Yes, the owner said it had a bent pushrod. Engine is stuck. I'm not sure what he intends to do with the car. Larry, nice going, finding that wonderful side viewPete Phillips
MrEarl
Moved this here from Pre War (and left a redirect) as I think it would be of interest to everyone.
Dandy Dave
Are all the Rims with it? Or missing? Those 26 inch Baker Rims are far and few between. I only see one rim in the side photo. Dandy Dave!
