Guest Jmcg
I know it's not much. But mom's been going through some old pics and was wondering if anyone could identify the year of her father's old car. To me it appears to be a 1949-1955 custom. If someone can narrow it down both mom and I would appreciate it.

Guest Jmcg
I was told it was taken on a his way from aurora il to Santa Barbara California where he would ship off to the Korean war. Other than that I don't have a clue.

Buffalowed Bill
It looks like Nevada to me, but might be western Utah, because of his destination it would also make sense.
alsfarms
Looks like the area just outside Reno, Nevada to me.Al

Bleach
The odds for finding it without some basic data like a Vin or a license number are astronomical.

Bleach
I don't think so. You could try to find out when he sold it, who the buyer was and then you could go from there.
Guest Jmcg
Grandpa isn't around anymore. So not sure if I could get that info.
sambarn
You'd do far better to look for a similar car but realize, ford made of hundreds of thousands of those and there are hundreds left. It's not impossible but if you don't have VIN tag data you will never be able to know if it's the right one.

John_S_in_Penna
As Sambarn implied in Posting #15, the chances ofits being around today are very slim. Only a smallpercentage of cars in use in that era survive today--perhaps just a few per cent. That would mean that95% or more of the 1950 Fords are gone. So even if you had the serial number, it would likelynot be found. But don't despair! One of our AACA Region membersin Pennsylvania has had a virtually identical car for sale! His is a 1950 Ford sedan, maroon, and is completely restored,a past AACA Grand National winner! That means virtuallyperfect condition. If it is still available, it would be under $20,000.If you are interested, send me a Private Message through this forum.
