Guest envisaging
I'm writing a piece that takes place in the late 1920's. I came across your page via the 1920s slang page and wondered if and wondered if anyone might know what the term "jake-gurgler" might mean. Also, can anyone tell me what car this is?Thanks,`Jay
keiser31
The first car has that Chrysler product look like a 1930 Dodge Brothers, but the hubcap and visor do not look right for that. The second car is definitely a Dodge Brothers. Not sure what year.....maybe about a 1926. ragtop4two
Jake could mean everything is OK gurgler could mean a drain, although slang could be different in different countries for example if I'm going to meet a friend at Tim's here in Canada it means for a coffee where in the US it might mean at a guy named Tim's house

Dave Mellor NJ
The 29(not 30) Buick was often ridiculed as the "pregnant" Buick" due to the bulging body sides.
jrbartlett
The "jake" may refer to "ginger jake," which you can read about at this link: http://mindhacks.com/2011/06/30/the-ginger-jake-poisonings/How do I know this? I think I remember an episode of "The Untouchables" from the early 1960s that addressed ginger jake.
