1926 Buick Starter Motor

Hi All,

I have removed the Starter from my 1926-26 for inspection and preventative maintenance. The unit works fine and cranks the engine fine. My options are A. leave it alone. B. Disassemble, clean the commutator slots etc. and lubricate the bearings. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks all for the input. There is not much to go by in the Reference Book or Shop Manual in regards to disassembly. Will proceed with care and take photos as necessary. The first order of the day will be to fabricate a tool to hold open the brush springs for removal and reassembly of the end plate without damaging the brushes or their holders.
