Professional photograghers make me jealous

I have tried to take artsy photos time and time again. They NEVER look all that good. We went to a car show in the West Bottoms on Kansas City a few weeks ago. It was a some what cold rainy day. I noticed a young lady snapping several photos of my car. She gave me a card. I finally looked up the site and found some great pics of my car on there. I ordered this print.

I know the color has been altered. But I was very impressed she got such a cool photo on a day like that. I can't wait to get the print in the mail. 24x18 hanging on the shop wall.

Kool picture. I wonder if the rain enhanced some of the reflections. We'd never think of taking pictures of a car in the rain, but then as you said "Professional photographers make me jealous."

With the digital cameras, and lenses that are available today, it's not hard for a 'novice' to achieve 'professional' looking results.'Post processing' in Adobe photoshop, or other various computer software programs can also enhance an otherwise mundane image.

Photography is an art, and a combination of aquired skills and learning, with lots of practice.

That's why profesionals are professionals, and there are those of us who 'wannabee'.

That is a very nice capture of your Riviera, and well worth the cost of the print !!

Here's another shot. I didn't like it as well. But I would have never thought to crouch down to incorporate the facade of a haunted house in the photo.

I dabble in photography, I love cars and photographing them. Like it was mentioned above with today's technology and a little post edit, you can really crank out a decent image with little to no experience.

Every photo I have taken of a car, I try to let the car and surroundings create the photo..sounds goofy..but if you have a badass car and not the right location the photos look forced. The car will present the photo, it's just seeing it how it needs to be seen..dang, I sound geeky.

Here's another shot. I didn't like it as well. But I would have never thought to crouch down to incorporate the facade of a haunted house in the photo.

Your first pic choice is much better, (...the money shot, ...the wall hanger, ...the keeper), with emphasis on the car - the building facade in the background does nothing for a rather distorted view of the car (...imho) :confused: ?

OK Riviera People: Just me now. When I see an old car picture...or should I say, a picture of an old car I am most interested when it is a period piece or a contemporary shot that looks like a period piece. How about the guy spending a tril or two on an authentic and correct nut-n-bolt restoration and he (not someone else mind you) presents his vehicle in a parking lot next to a Prius, or perhaps at a car show next to some other car with multi-propaganda about the car next to it.

The biggest thread on the car internet is the HAMB's showing period pieces. I believe it supports my personal tastes in period pieces. I often look at the cars I like on Flicker and for me, the real excitement there is a "new sighting". Also, junk yard type pictures of my favorite cars seem to ring my ding-a-ling.

Basically, I'm suggesting that when people portray their cars they are best in a candid, as close to period correct setting. Just me now. Mitch

I got my print in today. It is very impressive. I sent the gal an email to tell her I really like the print and carry on.
