1955 Ford Correct Engine Color

What is the correct engine color for a 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner? The original engine that I removed to rebuild looked orange, but Bill Hirsch does not list anything for a '55

I believe red is the correct color, with black valve covers. Some engines were yellow, the 239 I think.

Absolutely correct per the one my father bought new. Ford red paint should be commonly available. The engine in the video is the right color but has a 57 intake and air cleaner with a newer Holley, the 55 4-barrel would have been the old Holley teapot.

The 239 was the 54 Y-block, same as the last flathead. In 55 they came out with the 272 and 292, followed by the 312 in 56.

Here is the engine from my '56 with a little over 30K original miles. The paint is mostly original except for the air cleaner. It's probably the same as a '55

Here's a good shot of a 55 engine, I'm assuming it's a 292. The colors are what the guys said, red with black valve covers.

The original motor in my 55 looked to be a dull orange,I dont know if the red faded to a orange but it was more orange then red.
