MCHinson
Welcome to the AACA Discussion Forum. Please tell us more about what make and model of vehicle you are talking about and please further describe the symptoms. More information is needed to diagnose this than what you told us so far. ghostymosty
?Heater core leaking when the cooling system pressure increases at shutdown?
msmazcol
Wet carpet area due to rotten floor pan. Carpet may be dry but backing can often be soaked. Same is true under rubber floor covering.
Larry Schramm
Does the car have a "sweet" smell or otherwise. If sweet, then probably heater core. If not water leak.

msmazcol
Yes, a heater core is not usually a job for the weak at heart. Most require removal from the inside after the dash is out of the way. I'm sure the car has AC as well which adds to the fun. Some of the Buick guys will know the car better.
MCHinson
You probably should pick up a Haynes Manual on your car. It would be much less expensive than the Buick Shop manual, and while not as good as the factory manual, should have easy to follow instructions for most jobs like the heater core replacement. MCHinson
You will find a lot of folks here who will do their best to help you. Unfortunately, you are talking about a much newer car than the antique cars that this website is about. It sounds like you really do need to buy a service manual for your car. There are troubleshooting flow charts to help with that sort of diagnosis in most service manuals. It could be some power control relay(s), or ground problems or bad switches. It is very difficult to diagnose it long distance...

NTX5467
For more BUICK-specific information, head on over to the Buick area of the AACA forums. Your same log-in works there as it does here. Click on the "AACA Forums" at the top of the page and it should bring up a list of all of the car forums which the AACA hosts. Click on "Buick-General" and go from there. If you have power to the window switch module, but nothing works other than the mirrors, they you might have a bad ground somewhere in the harness OR you need a new switch. Do the other windows work from their individual switches? The heater core can be the issue with the fog issue, BUT it could also be residual water in the a/c case due to a clogged drain hose (usually a rubber hose that exits the firewall on the passenger side and then points downward with a flattened end). Haynes manuals are pretty good, but there are not quite as specific (as in chasing a wiring issue) as the factory manuals are, which are model year specific. You can probably still get the genuine Buick service manuals from Service Manuals, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Service Bulletins - Helm Incorporated , but they can be a little pricey as you get ALL of the manuals, usually.Take care of that Buick and you might decide you like to drive it in the "not-snow" season, too.Regards,NTX5467
keiser31
Had the same problem. Spent about $300.00 to have the heater core replaced because you have to remove practically the whole dashboard to change the core out. Problem solved.
