I recently added a few to this series of 12 early French plates with automotive scenes. I've got several different series plates that are similar. Believe they are early 1900s. Any other varieties out there?

Very cool. Kind of related - this past weekend at Rhinebeck I saw a Hershey AACA Fall Meet commerative plate from 1978 - first year I ever went. Ariel view, I told my wife I am in the picture somewhere....

Thats a cool plate. Over the years AACA has done a variety of special commemorative plates. I've got a few of them. Will try to get some pics later.

Here are a few from my collection. A couple were meant to be humorous, the calendar plate seems late to have a car related theme. There is also a change plate in the shape of a chauffeurs hat and a toothpick holder, plus 6 plates from a series "Les Sports" where plate #10 is the automobile. If anyone knows what plate numbers 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, and any #12 and above for this set are I'd appreciate knowing that information.

Ive got several old postcards in my collection showing cats driving cars - any on plates you know of? It is a subject I see turning up more frequently. I'll try to get some additional plates photo'd soon.

Here is an interesting plate that I'd like more info on if possible. It's very early French. I don't know if it is part of a set or just a single, but it's very well done. I'd date it circa 1903. Second picture is a lovely lady in motoring attire on a mug and also a bowl. I've seen other pieces of this set and wonder what other objects use this image? Last item is a plate with a very well illustrated auto that is part of a set. I've got several pieces using this image including two different sized plates and a bowl. Are there any cups? Maybe a teapot? What makes a 'complete set' of these items?

I have got to figure out this digital camera and picture thing. I have a few display plates with vintage cars as well as a set of three porcelain ashtrays. Mostly cheap collectibles- I think $30 is the most I've paid for any of them.

My crown jewel is a 1950 Oldsmobile transferware plate with cars from CDO thru about 1930 on it, with "In My Merry Oldsmobile" printed thruout the cars. Offhand I can't remember who in Lansing made it, but it looks like a Homer Laughlin shape, and HL had a big market in commemorative plates.

Also have a 5-piece place setting of GM cafeteria china. It's more like Corelle ware or Fire King than china. This is the 70s version with blue logo and decorations. I found it at Fall Carlisle last year and before the trip was over had found two more. Buddy says "you gonna get those too?" No, because one is a display. Three would mean I'd have to find the fourth place set to make a dinner set.

I've managed to collect church commemorative plates for every church my family as far back as great-grandparents were involved in, and those are something you don't see much anymore. Those used to be big fundraisers. Some of those churches have closed.

Terry, if you can find the manufacturer, Replacements, Ltd. in Greensboro has a pattern search service that may be able to help. Just be forewarned, sometimes Replacements is not inexpensive on older patterns. I discovered that real quick when I was reconstructing my grandma's Homer Laughlin china service. My mother's comment was that I had paid more for a cup and saucer than the whole service for 6 cost new in 1940.
