Bobby Rodd
Has anyone had the experience of moving the battery to the trunk?

Drag racers used to do that and British sports cars had batteries mounted behind the seats.
Bloo
There is always an advantage if you can keep the cables as short as possible. That goes double for 6 volt. It is all about voltage drop (loss) in the cables. Cables already need to be quite large for 6 volt systems, with 00 gauge being the common recommendation. If you are going to make them longer, make them larger too. Cables for a trunk mounted 6v battery in a front engine car would probably be gigantic.
padgett
My '11 CTS Coupe has the battery in the trunk and both Allantes have the battery behind the seats. CTS is very finicky about the battery.

My 1934 Ford Fordor V8 now has the battery beneath the back seat floor which has an elevated floor compared the front floor, with the battery cut off switch in front of the front seat. Back there I can use a upright Optima battery or a tall 6 Volt tractor battery without having to lower the battery box below the drivers sea floor. I also allows for better routing of the dual exhausts.
Buffalowed Bill
I tried to use the setup in the trunk that came with the car. The previous owner had two rather large 6 volt batteries in his system. I pulled them out and tried two new Optimas, in their stead, but with little success. I moved one optima to it stock spot under the driver seat and it started immediately.
