Dan Marx
OK, if you could select 110 cars for a unique fund raising, 10 from each decade 1900-2010, what would they be? Start with the 1900-1919. I would shoot for primarily domestic mfg. Dan
West Peterson
This sounds interesting. That's two decades, though. Do you want 20 cars from that period?
jdome
You should start with the 1890"s. The Duryea was the first "production" gasoline car, that really started it all. The curved dash olds which was the first "mass" produced & inexpensive car and probably the most visually recognized of the early cars. Also the Stanley Bros. Locomobile steam cars. Steam cars were there before gas.
1937hd45
I personally draw the line at 1940, and will be back with my 50 cars later.
1937hd45
Pre 1900 has to have two European entries, Benz and De Dion, they were more advanced than most cars built in the USA at the time. 1896 Duryea, 1897 Riker (Electric),1897 Columbia (Electric), and the 1899 Locomobile (Steam),Winton, Haynes-Apperson, Packard, Stanley (Steam). 1900-1910 has too many great cars, and far more will be left out of the list so only the best of the best will make the cut. ex98thdrill
That's a lot of cars!! I hope these include the restored version with proper storage space too. Some decades were very easy to fill, some were tough. The 6 fire trucks that I have listed is only because of the history that I have with them. Many of the ones I listed had either a personal or historical significance (1903, 1928, 1953, 1978 & 2003 Harley Davidsons). All trucks listed are shortbox trucks.More than I could probably know about, but I'll give it a try:1900-1909 (this is a tough decade):1. Larry Schramm
In the teens, I would put at least one truck. A good one would be a 15-16 Buick truck which a majority of production was sent to Europe for ambulances in WWI.
R Walling
ex98thdrill, A list like that is really going to stretch my economic stimulus payment that is being mailed out soon.
Dan Marx
We could make this a virtual car show. Is the AACA interested? RW, some are not "senior enough" to qualify for the stimulus.
