This was one of five built by Brunn and one of three owned by the Ford family. Typical of Ford family cars it was updated over the years and has the 1946-48 front end modifications. It is an extremely original and low mileage (19K) car that presents and runs great. Excellent original interior. Older but very nice period repaint. The 1st photo was impressive but that back shot (ouch) Kind of like looking at a lady from the rear and thinking nice! Then she turns to look at you and she's not received the same benefit. Why would they use a 1930 era rear tub? Strange, but Clara sat in the back. Wes, every shot of a town car I have seen going back to the teens, does not have a roof section in front. That being said, this car was likely used in greater Detroit so there may be a covering.Also remember that these were the Fords, and as such, they had several cars to chose from, and typically wintered in Florida. On later ones such as this they typically have two side arms that swing into a compartment in the header above the back of the drivers head, and a fabric - leather - vinyl top that rolls out and snaps to the windshield header. motoringicons Posted February 10, 2008 Author Share Posted February 10, 2008 Yes, there is a top over the front seat. There is a compartment which conceals the top when it is not in use. The front top is still the original felt-lined vinyl. Of the four or five Brunn built Continental towncars built in 1940, the only other one in existance is the Eleanor Ford (Edsel's wife) car, which also has the same front end updates and is in a private museum.
