  1. It is neat to see people build stuff like that, I am sure the market is small for buyers in that price range that want that kind of set up.
  2. Not mine, just watched it on you tube. You could buy a nice car collection, for what that car lift would cost to build.
  3. My prediction, a light will be shined on some of the things that go on in this Hobby/industry. And it will become a better place for the people who work in it. And more people will get involved in the owning of classic and collector cars.
  4. If you look real close, you can see some dirt on the truck.
  5. Are you stating that you picked up that motor from here, and took it to TX? Or you shipped one like it?
  6. Here is a picture of the cart I made for the 1944 Lycoming V12 Engine I had out of a fire truck. I am sorry that I do not have a picture of it on the lift. But if you have a car lift in your shop, you can use the lift to pull the engine. And then place it on a cart made for it. If you do not have a lift, and have the the clearance for one. It would be a better purchase then a steel Beam. I use the car lift for pulling car bodies as well. A one man shop has to have a two post lift. If set up right, you can lift stuff up and back a trailer right under the object and lower it down. I also lift tools and equipment this way .
  7. I live in Idaho, rust proofing is not an issue. Bringing water with you when you go on long walks is an issue.
  8. Year, make, model, production numbers, body style, options, condition, history and cool factor. All will play a part in the value. Money to invest determines a lot, if working with a high budget when purchasing a car. You will over look lesser value models. If building/restoring a car, a person will want to do the model that has a higher finished value. Once again over looking lesser models. What is the curve ball in the whole thing is association. If you went fishing with your dad when you were a kid, and drove out to the river or lake in a 52 ford truck. there is a good chance that you will place a higher personal value on a old 52 ford truck then a Delahaye.
  9. I know that those are all great venues to see cars like that. But those shows are not on the radar for a lot of people. Go to the book store and look at how many magazines there are about hot rods/customs/rat rods/street rods/ traditional hot rods and the custom car culture. I think the shows listed above are the best ones around, but it does not seem like they reach out to the rest of the car world. A few of those French Classics on display in front of a crowd that has never had the chance to see them. Might bring a big boost to interest, and have a impact on some customs being built. Just my thoughts, I think that they are some of the best styled cars ever built. And thank the people for showing them.
  10. That was my point in the post above, of Auburnseekers 32. It looks like a coupe with the roof cut off. Take the roof off yours F&J and it would look like the one pictured above. My guess is convertible tops were removed to lighten up the car. I can see cutting the roof off a coupe to make a cabriolet, but if you had a cabriolet, removing the top would make it look like a cabriolet with out a top. The good part is with so many reproduction parts for those cars, a new top set up would be easy to get. All of the cars pictured a cool hot rods. It is always nice to see other peoples shop pictures, and projects.

  12. Have seen coupes built to look just like that. Not sure why you would remove a convertible top? A lot of customs were built and the convertible top removed for a carson style top. I would rather have the convertible top.Here are some shots of a 1937 ford five window coupe. Roof was cut off and reshaped into a three window, wrapped in convertible top material and made to unlatch and lift off. Doors stretched six inches, rear quarters shortened six inches. Nice 32 no matter what has been done to it.
  13. Those are all cool cars, I have said before that this side of the car world should get out in front of the custom car side and show cars like this. The great design an styling would inspire young builders. You just do not see stuff like this in the street rod/custom world. Some of these restored bone stock classics would draw a huge crowd at shows like SEMA. It would be a win win for all sectors of the car industry/hobby.
  14. Cool stuff, I remember when the story surfaced. Collections like that are getting fewer and fewer. I am sure there are still some cars hiding in Germany.
  15. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Desirable to you, not so much to the next guy. That is why all cars have a place in the market. A lot of rare cars I would like to own, but it is from a styling stand point, not value. But because of their styling the value is so dam high.
  16. Some of those rusted hulks in that collection were pretty cool. One of the better stash of cars to pop up.
  17. Great shots of my Cord, I have always liked the styling of those cars. Nice Hot rod, Looks like a 32 5 window with the roof cut off. I thought you guys were all original car people, looks like there are some custom people floating around this forum. I count three cars/trucks with different drive trains in there. The cracks happen in the intake where it bolts to the exhaust manifold on the under side, I will get you a picture , I think I have one unbolted from the exhaust. Here are a few shots of my shop from earlier this year, when I repainted the inside. Not fun moving stuff around to paint. The shop had been white inside for ten years, and I wanted to change it up a bit. Some of the colors are left over from when we painted the inside of the house. The window in the wall of your shop that is in front of the Cord looks like it should be up in a vault. Is that a reclaimed window? (not trying to get off topic and get in trouble again)
  18. I am not sure if there is another way of determining by sight. Maybe the 16 inch wheels? Not sure if the short wheel base trucks came with 15 inch wheels? I will throw up a few pictures and maybe inspire someone to buy it and build/restore the truck. All of the ones I do have been stretched 7 inches in the cab by using coupe doors. And then stretch the frame as well. New beds are fabricated here as well. Great trucks, restored or customized. That looks like a good one to start with, the two tone one I am building now came off a hog farm in Harper KS. It was in bad shape compared to this one.
  19. If having a rare car helped the value. Nobody would ever restore a car, they would all be built into one of one customs.
  20. Great start to a build/restoration. A person would want to cut off the frenched head light thing someone was doing. If some one buys it and needs some parts, I have a bunch. Tail gates are reproduced, just about all car parts will bolt up.
  21. The 262 with Twin-H should be a great running engine, you might have some cracks in the manifold. I can send some pictures of where to look. Maybe a Hudson guy has some shots handy and can post them. They can rust out in the center, or crack from age and heat where the exhaust warms the intake in the center. Keep that Cord inside and safe.
  22. Here are a few shots of the Hudson truck, showing what has been done. Cab has been insulated, wired, glass installed, trim going on and the bed is painted and on the truck. Fuel system will be next, and then back to sanding other parts.
