Steve S. in PA: According to the 1930 Buick Motor Division Data sheets, chassis number 2372523 is from a model 45 five pass. phaeton. It falls in the 3rd block of model 45's produced between chassis numbers 2372382 and 2372525. It should have an engine from either of these sequences: 2439593 to 2489592 or 2524638 to 2568137. Edinmass: Only wish it took an hour. Last time my 29 Buick Master clutch got stuck - storage in damp garage over the winter, it took several days of trying, including burning up one of my wife's hair dryers. Bill McLaughlin 1929 McLaughlin Buick

If you can provide the full frame number, I can likely confirm what model it its. Bill McLaughlin 1929 McLaughlin Buick

I agree with Mark. Likely a stick clutch. Happens all the time with 29/30 Buicks when left unattended for any great length of time. They can be unstuck with a bit of work and lots of heat. Bill McLaughlin 1929 McLaughlin Buick Roadster

With a cut-off switch, how do you keep your electric clocks running or do you reset them every time you go for a drive ? Bill McLaughlin

Also, there were several 4 door sedans in 1929. Lots of differences between them. 116" (Standard) model 27. 121" (Master) models 41 and 47. 129" (Master) models 50, 50L, 51, and 57. Bill McLaughlin Editor & Publisher - 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick Newsletter

... or anyone who can supply small fillister head stainless steel bolts. Thanks. Bill McLaughlin -
I drove there, in my 29 Buick roadster, for the meet several years ago and am planning to come again in 2025. Not as far as Spokane this year but a decent jaunt. Bill McLaughlin

That’s no fun. You have to drive anyway, so why not have the fun and adventure of driving your old car. Bill McLaughlin

Your drive will be a lot more than 19 hours. If you can drive the car at 60 MPH, you'll only be able to average 50 MPH with gas stops every 100 miles (and that means no eye contact with anyone). So, that's 26 hours but your 57 has a 4.636-1 rear end so I suspect your comfortable top speed will be closer to 50-52 MPH. That means you'll average, at best, 45 MPH which means that it will take you around 30 hours. Bill Mclaughlin 1929 Buick Roadster Toronto to Spokane, WA

I live in Canada and use EZ Pass when I'm in the USA. They charge it to my Visa, I think, once a month. Bill McLaughlin Toronto, Canada -
JPS is correct. Electric wipers were standard on 1929 Buick closed cars (bodies by Fisher). They had 2 wiper blades, one a slave connected by a rod to the driven wiper arm. The electric wiper motor was, as far as I know, a 1 year option. The open model 54CC (whose body was built by Fisher) had a vacuum wiper with 2 blades (one a slave connected by a rod to the driven wiper arm), and a vacuum assist tank under dash. The open cars (bodies by Stewart Body) had vacuum wipers with 1 wiper blade. Also, some closed cars ended up with a vacuum wiper, we believe direct from the factory. (Maybe they had run out of electric wiper motors.) Bill McLaughlin Editor, The 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick Newsletter.

I used a gallon of diesel with about 12 gals of gas each time I filled up to cope with the ethanol and 87 octane gas. Not sure if it helps or not. I used about 2 qts. of oil on the trip with an oil & filter change in Spokane. I also lost 5 lbs - so when Marlene tells me she has to lose weight, I'm going too tell her to come on a long trip in the 29 with me. Billy
