I'm in Vancouver as well, and while I don't have a Riviera and am not a member of the ROA, I thought I'd chime in just to connect with local Buick guys! I regularly see a black 65 Riv running around near me, but it is pretty rusty and looks almost like a daily driver. I've tried to talk to that owner, but I never see him stopped! There is also a 71 GS Riviera that is always parked on 16th Avenue between Main and Cambie and I've seen and talked to the owner of a 69 Riviera who also lived downtown. They are around. I don't think I've seen your Riviera either Alex and I know I would remember it! Drummerboy: I've been up to the sunshine coast frequently, and even participated in the Sleepy Hollow Rod Run with the Electra a few times, but can't say I recall seeing your cars. I'll have to watch more carefully!

I feel your pain! I've been helping my father-in-law clean out his house as he prepares to sell his home. His experience is much the same, although thankfully on a smaller scale as he was an electrician and A/V guy, so no engine blocks or large pieces. He was frequently going into the piles of recycling or garbage and pulling things out that he "might" need... at 85 and almost blind, he won't be needing any of that stuff. I mean, who needs 4 garbage bags full of floppy disks or 4 VCR's and hundreds of feet of component input cables? On the other hand, I was looking at the same stuff saying, that may come in handy, or I may it need at some point... ended up talking myself out of all of it, with most of the stuff being sold, donated or recycled. I'd rather not keep moving and storing the same stuff! Besides, I forget everything I already have stored for future use, so end up buying something new anyway. Your garages are looking good and seems you'll be back to the Buicks soon!

I knew that blackwall comment was coming... I think the J.C.'s car will also look fantastic with the rallyes, and a decent set should be relatively easy to find. They are easy to spruce up with a bit of 0000 steel wool, some masking and some new satin black paint for the centers. The correct center caps are also still available in NOS and reproduction, which would really help set off the wheels too.

Thankfully, I was able to send the set I found online to be "Smartinized" before they were sent up to me. He did a fantastic job, and they are still like mirrors!

That is a striking color! I don't think I've seen another Riviera in that color combo before. Is that the Olds 307?

1973 was the first year you could order the Rallye wheel as a factory option on Electra. The "895" 15x6-inch wheel was used from 1971 to 1985 and was available on most full-sized cars and Riviera's, so they are more plentiful than the 15x7 wheel as JD mentions. The stock backspacing on the 15x6 wheel is 3 7/8". I don't think anyone is making aftermarket wheels with the 5-inch bolt circle, so your best bet is to find someone willing to part with a set. They do come up for sale frequently, but you can always post a parts wanted add too. I'm with JD in that many owners of Electra's have added these wheels in the past. When I purchased my 67 Electra it had the rallye's on it, which I liked, but I switched to the factory wheel covers, which I like as much or more. If you post a parts wanted add, you may find someone like me (not me though) that is willing to sell the spare set they have in storage. I had refinished mine ahead of the 2007 BCA Nationals in Seattle/Bellevue, WA and I've kept them just in case I want to go back. As for fit, I find that the current steel wheels with hubcaps are more difficult to get on/off the rears than the rallyes were. Before: After:

I believe 1973 was the first year these wheels were even an available option for Electra, am I correct? Prior to that it was wheel covers only.

For a 1973, the rim code should be "895". Should also have a "JJ" stamped as well. Of course you can't see these codes with the tire on the rim.

Warmer than seasonal around here so perfect excuse to get the Electra out (after all the chores were done of course 😇). I’m about a week late for the premium cherry blossom time in the neighborhood but found these trees with blossoms hanging in there. I’ll be going for some sunset beachside cruises before this warmer weather leaves us.

That panel looks very similar to my 67 Convertible (I just checked) so I would say it's original.

Nice car and good to see some honest pictures, the body does look fantastic... I parked beside a twin of this car at the 2007 Nationals in Bellevue Washington, but that car was a restored example. When I saw the first couple of pictures, I thought this may be the same car, but the latest photos proves it is not. Values of these have been climbing a bit, so good luck to the seller.

I was contacted by a photographer for Collectible Automobile Magazine last night and he's been asked to locate and photograph a 1986-93 Riviera for the magazine in the Vancouver, BC area. I checked through the BCA Roster and there are none registered around here, so wanted to put the word out to the ROA forum to see if there are any local "ish" owners that want to have their car photographed. I think that is a commonality we all share... exactly accurate at 0 MPH LOL! I've noticed my speedometer is off as well up to 60 MPH where it is dead accurate. The odometer is accurate as well as I've checked that a few times as well. The 67 has the center mounted needle so it sweeps across the rectangular and linear speedometer, so I blame a lazy needle... which I hear is common in older individuals 😁 Anyway, as 60 MPH is the center of the dial and the needle is perfectly vertical at this point, my explanation makes sense to me. By the way John, I'm about 200 miles in this year and climbing... the last several years have been disappointing, so we'll see how I do with this years goal. Cheers,

Had the Estate Wagon out this Easter weekend to continue to move some “clutter” from my father in laws house. We enlisted the help of my nephew and his truck as well.... as you can see it takes a lot of truck to dwarf an Estate Wagon! Put about 120 miles on her and was able to do a bit of maintenance as well. It’s so nice to have a working vacuum advance again! I replaced what appeared to be the original distributor, vacuum advance and rotor a few weeks ago but not the vacuum line, and the vacuum hoses all appear to be originals, so finally got to that today. There will be no shortage of vacuum hose to replace!

Had a day off so got the Electra up and running and cleaned off. Didn’t get a lot of time to drive but went for a 10-mile drive to blow the cobwebs out. The Electra is running extremely well after the the supplemental fuel pump was installed and the air leak in the carb sorted. Got a nice pic under this blooming magnolia tree.

I guess you are going to help @dei find a home for all his spare 58 parts and reduce his storage whoas! LOL
