  1. No, the 1940 Lincoln Continental had Hydrolic windows (if that counts?)
  2. Well, I'll get you a Falcon, if you give me that '38 (LOL!) you should respond on the other post! (Give me some back up!) 'Please know that I'm not trying to insult you, to call you an "elitist" or anything like that. But signs of it are showing. I don't want this to be seen as a personal attack, it's not. But I ask of you, consider the stuff you presently don't. "going on 80" Certainly you are, you belong in an earlier time, as do I. I so wish I was living in the 60s/70s. Between the muscle cars and the hot rods and rock n roll, I am SOOO jealous of my elders.' I had to copy and paste it because I cant look at my post and yours at the same time! Anyway, I am not an 'elitist' as Davemoon claims, in fact, I am the stark opposite, if it is a good car, it is a good car, no matter what era it is. When I go to car shows, people think that economy car X or etc. is so far superior to the other better cars of the same era or the grand oldies of the era before, which is not true, people think that just because it is an old car that means it is worth something, etc. but, what I am trying to point out is that those are economy cars! With less of a build quality and design than another car from the same year and brand! If it is a good car it is a good car! I am not one of those who says brand X is better than brand Y! If it is good than it is good! I do not live in the right time at all, I belong, in the time when my 88 year old grandmother was my age, 1940! I really don't fit in in this modern era! In terms of morality, standards, dress, etc. 'YES of course we must look after the very old stuff, you mention a "1926 chevy" or whatever it was is sitting out there rusting. YES we must try to preserve as much automotive history as we can! But we can't dismiss the more contemporary vehicles at the same time, and those that perhaps werent the fastest, most powerful, most expensive, and most exclusive! They carry value too! I just don't understand how you can't even appreciate others' love for the vehicles you seem to see little point in even looking at. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my attitude is something a friend of mine said once "ANYTHING old".' Well, the older cars are now largely ignored, because they are not the popular or 'in' models to have in car circles, now, when my grandfather Willison's (21 chevy and 48 Lincoln)era was in to classic cars, they liked the old ones (40's and before) now, that is becoming a lost thing because, they are not 'worth' the 'investment' or people are just in it for money, and money can't be made there. Meanwhile our history is going down the drain. For example, even though production numbers on say, my 1921 Chevy, might have been similar to a 1960's car, there are far less of the 21 chevy around, because, they were made mostly out of wood! (I have become quite a carpenter!) These cars are being lost everyday because, they are not worth anything and people don't want to waste the time, the 1960's cars will be around for years to come, because of their superior building materials (all metal). 'They carry value too! I just don't understand how you can't even appreciate others' love for the vehicles you seem to see little point in even looking at' They do carry value, I do appreciate other's love for these vehicles, not, once, did I say that I did not. As for me seeing little point of looking at them, there are a million 60's cars (it is really getting old! and boring!) at every car show that I go to, now here in CA there is rarely an un-hotrodded pre 1960's car! So, no, unless it really is a great looking car or in really good unrestored or unhotrooded condition or non lowrider (have alot of those here!) than no. I should probably rephrase, which one would you rather look at, your 1938 (my choice! Can I have it?!) or a 1965 Dart!? The post said 'once crappy' economy cars. When they were new, they were considered crappy I never said they were crappy that has been a misnomer with the angry posters!, it was not until recently when everyone thinks that every old car is worth something, that they were not considered this anymore! Crazy how things work! It would be like oneday, someone considers a 2007 Daewoo worth more than a 2007 Lincoln or Cadillac! See what I am trying to say? Anyway, like I said before, I do not belong in this time, my room is old fashioned with old furniture from the 40's strewn about (I do have a flatscreen T.V. though!) I wear polo shirts and docker pants and nice 'grandpa' style shoes and I jump into my 1941 Dodge Buisness Coupe (an economy car of that era, but, the difference with the economy cars of the 40's 50's and before is that all the major brands had their economy cars appointed with nice designs and nice interiors, Chrome and great dashboards the 60's was the start of what we see now, where they cut down on the good designs and made the economy cars, spartan in the good 'ol days the economy cars from the major companies still looked great, and you got your moneys worth!) and Drive to school! I still believe in the American way and Apple Pie and the rest. So, I am old fashioned!
  3. Now, is that for the signature section?, because I already have an avatar pic.
  4. How do I upload a picture to my signature section of my posts?
  5. 'Originally Posted By: 1948LincolnIt is crazy that these crappy economy cars like a Falcon, Comet or Fairlane are now collectable. Those are not good at all, whether a 4 door or 2 door! Im REALLY gonna have to disagree with ya there. Falcon, Comet, Fairlane? Have you LOOKED at those? All three of those are totally stunning. I'd LOVE to own any of them. Besides later in the 60s you could have 'em with 302s 390s etc. so they werent just economy cars they became muscle too!' Zonda C12, No, they are far from stunning, stunning, is what you have in your pic. and the 1948 Lincoln and even the 1941 Dodge (with the new paint) no, if you like yours I don't think you would want to have a Falcon for long, I can barely stand driving my Mustang instead of my 1948 Lincoln, even though my Mustang is a higher end one with alot of the orig. options and it drives fantastically and looks great!, styling wise, my I would take my '48 over the Mustang or any other 60's car any day!
  6. 2 door, 4door, what makes any difference, if it has a nice design? like I said before, 4 doors are much more useful, as long as they are not an economy car. It is crazy that these crappy economy cars like a Falcon, Comet or Fairlane are now collectable. Those are not good at all, whether a 4 door or 2 door!
  7. I like that! Can I have it? I have a '41 buisness coupe, I just love those late 30's and 40's coupes! I would like to get a '42 desoto coupe with the flip lights sometime!
  8. Well, here are my 5, Don't laugh! 1942 Desoto (with flip lights) (if I could not get that, any 1930's or 1940's 4 door from either Chrysler or G.M. no ford!) 1937 Lasalle 4dr. 1956 Continental MKII 1973 Lincoln MkIV (black on black) 1977 Cadillac Seville (brown with a brown leather interior)
  9. I'll give ya $5 for it! LOL! I am jealus! Even though I prefer cars that one looks great!
  10. The pics. above, are from after they dipped it in the stuff, plus, I think that it should not be restored, it will ruin the character of the car! (Or what's left!)
  11. My buddy, has a whole bunch of studies! He might have what you are looking for, let me know if you still need it!
  12. Here are the pics.! Plus you are a local! Did you hear about this car? Have any stories?
  13. I am so glad that I live in S. CA! The worst I have to contend with is the rain!
  14. http://dailyrecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll...arams=Itemnr=1 But, the big question is, should they restore it?
  15. Random Comment, I know! But, my great grandmother ran off with a Huckster (the guy, not the truck, they sold supplies and stuff like that in the 1910's and 1920's and 1930's) and left my grandpa and his sis. to make their way back to Ohio from where she dumped them in Texas in the early 1920's.
  16. I know, this question has been asked before! But, list your top 5, not 10, 15, 20, 80 but, 5!
  17. I have a slew of 2 doors, the 1941 Dodge, 1948 Lincoln, 1966 Mustang and 1978 Lincoln Mark V ('21 chevy is a 4 door, but, I don't drive it for everyday use) 2 doors are such a hastle! When you want to move stuff or people (except my '41 which has a massive trunk!). The knock on the 4 doors is stupid, I have seen man 4 doors which are more stylish than the 2 doors of the same era. I love the Cadillac Seville from 1977, it looks classic and it has the modern ammenities and gets better gas mileage than the other caddies and Lincolns of the era and you get the luxury! I would love to get a brown 1977 Seville, if I had the room and the money! Also, look at the old 1960's Continentals they were 4 doors! and look at all of the pre-1950's cars with the suicide 4 doors, those are the coolest cars, I think that the gripe with 4 doors should not apply to anything pre-1950!
  18. That is ridiculous! People should be able to voice their opinions on the forum! (as long as it is not violent, etc.) But, one's opinions about a store should be fine! That store earned it's reputation! Good or Bad! and they should take the consequences good or bad!
  19. Any response is fine! I am just looking for opinions!
  20. That is a very good idea! when I get more $ I will enlist a friend of mine to assist me, but, the only problem is, is that the truck is in his backyard, and you can only see it from down the street for about 2 sec. I know one of my grandfather Frimand's friends and maybe I will enlist his help in the next year or so.
  21. Found this a while back, but, finally got it out of the frame, this picture was taken in 1975 by my Uncle, who is a photographer. He took the car up near the mountains and decided to take this picture for my grandpa for a gift, it hung on his office wall for many many years! And when I found this pic. in a box many years later, I knew that I was meant to have the car!!!
  22. Well, here are some more cars, this time ones that my grandpa Willison owned along with my mom and dad's Corvette. My Grandpa Willison, unlike my Grandpa Frimand never kept his cars long enough to get pictures! So, many of them have come and gone but, these are the ones I have pictures of, and of course he owned the 1921 Chevrolet and the 1948 Lincoln Continental that I now own! Here is what I know: Model 'T': My grandpa owned a few of these through the years! wish I had one! 1972 or 1973 MKIV: This car was my grandma's and it was driven on road trips to Ohio and it was later replaced by the Seville. My dad's memory of this car was when they went back to Ohio and the flood waters started to rise and nearly flooded them out, but, my dad sped through them to safety with my grandma screaming and grandpa yelling! When they got back to the hotel they saw on the news that the town that they were in had been flooded up to people's roofs! 1977 Cadillac Seville: My grandpa bought this in 1980 with a salvage/stolen title (shady!) and it was like brand new, he drove it for the next 20 years to work and it was sold in 2001 and the guy who bought it fixed it all up, then it was stolen again! 1974 Corvette: This was my parent's vette, and they drove it often, then when I came along they had to sell it!
  23. Thanks, well, if you read the history, you know that it came a very, very long way to get to me and come back to my family!
  24. Here are some of my Grandpa Frimand's Cars that he owned, when he died in 1983 some 20-30 cars mostly Chryslers, Dodges,Plymouths and Desotos all orig. and in well maintained condition were sold off. The F-100 and the '41 stayed in my family, here are some pics. of the others! and a brief history: 1955 Ford F-100: My grandfather bought this sometime in the late 1960's or early 1970's, when he died in 1983 my Uncle got it, and it was in perfect condition and my Uncle let it go and he refuses to sell it to me (he does'nt like me much!) 1936 Plymouth: This car belonged to my great grandmother Frimand and somehow my Uncle got it from her and brought it from Paw Paw Michigan to S. CA. It was sold when he died. 1958 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron: He bought this in the late 1960's and it was all orig. and it was sold in 1983 when he died, I am looking for it! So, if anyone has seen an Imperial Lebaron, let me know!
