  1. For sale for late 30's and 40's and maybe later Chrysler family cars, these come from a 1947 Dodge Buisness coupe that was in good condition, and these were replaced in favor of a 350 (YUK!) there is a dodge fluid drive driveshaft, complete rear axle, bell housing, Complete engine with all accessories all in good, running condition. First $600 takes all of it! No resonable offer refused!

  3. Funny (not for our pocket books!) and interesting stories! Anyone else have any?
  4. There have been many definitions of the term of Classic Car from various clubs, etc. So, what is a Classic Car and Why is a classic car a classic car? and what makes a classic car?
  5. What is your worst classic car story or event or car you have owned?
  6. Strange how they would steal such a specialized part? Especially for a Franklin, it is not like it is a chevy where they are common. The thief would have to own one.
  7. Does anyone know where I can find official and old Tucker stuff, parts, etc. advertising, etc.?

  9. Model 505 in good condition, let me know if you are interested
  10. Better tell the buyer that, he is going to chop it up for parts and dump the rest!
  11. All cars built after the 60's!(YUK!) (there are a few exceptions)
  12. I have a Motorola Radio 505 from '47 or '48 with a dash housing and a separate box, which is supposed to have better sound, tell me what it is
  13. Near what big town was it located in? My dad is getting married in a few months near San Antonio and I will be going down there alot and will need a car of some kind to save on rental cars! And it looks like with a wash and some gas it could run! Maybe you could send me a pm. Wont be down that way for a few months but, it does not look like it is going anywhere!
  14. What I find is interesting is that people will buy cars that they had or wanted in their youth, that is why you see so many 50's-70's cars years ago, like my grandpa's generation were into the 40's and before because, those were the cars that they had or wanted when they were young. Back then those cars commanded high prices (for the time) now, it is the 50's-70's cars.
  15. I never thought that the fast and furious thing was 'cool' I thought that they were all pieces of junk. I have always been a fan of the 40's and before when they built great long lasting cars that were made from steel not plastic like cars of today, also because they are unique and have those big pontoon fenders! Case and point, today I was in Math class and for our attendance one of us a week gets to think of a question of the day (this is college remember!) so, mine was what is your favorite car and why? I put down the 40-48 Lincoln Continental, because it was luxury and technology far ahead of the time, and only one other person in the class put down a classic car-a '69 vette. Others put down things like BMW's, Scions (junk!), and Hummers (what is wrong with them!). I think that young people have not been inspired in the hobby and are just stuck into what is new and the 'in' thing, text messaging and talking on the phone as long as my grandma does! and that you have to go fast in the fast paced world, no one cares about the oldies any more.
  16. Are funerals being held for those poor cars? And the driver being indited for car-slaughter!
  17. I think that there is a lack of interest for a couple of reasons, First, the money or percieved cost of restoration, people automatically think that they have to dump 10 grand into a paint job second, the cost of a car, many common models are commanding rip off prices and finally the lack of disposable funds and the inability of some 'classic car owners' to inspire young people and encourage them instead of shunning them in the fear that there might be a fingerprint on their car! I am 19 and the cars of the 40's are my favorite, and they must be original! No hot rod crap or modified junk! (sorry!) Also, I own the cars in my sig. below the '21, '41 and the '78 I was in the right place at the right time as they belonged to family. But the '48 and the Mustang I had to buy at a higher cost and the benefits far outweigh the cost! I will never sell any of them because they have sentimental value, but, I always tell people that having my 5 old cars is cheaper than having one new one! And people always tell me that you must have money to have old cars and I reply that I DONT have money because I have old cars!
  18. Mike, First off, you must have talent, know how and the money to 'do it yourself' you have to figure in all tools such as all things required for painting and you have to have the proper facility to paint so, after you figure all of that in you might as well get someone to paint it. and as for the running of the car, if you are lucky enough to have good 'ol shops with old guys who worked on these cars when they were new and are not in the buisness for money you will also get out ahead on the mechanical work part along with having people who really know what they are doing with hundreds of years of combined experience which I cannot even match up with even if I wanted too! I do some of the work myself when I definetly know what I am doing but, for more complicated stuff and stuff requiing exact precision and when I do not have the tools, I take it to those 'ol shops. Secondly, true, a Earl Scheib Paint job does not look as 'good' as a $10000 paint job but, a $10000 paint job will get scraches and age like a cheaper or an Earl Scheib paint job and why get that when you can spend money on a cheaper paint job then use the rest to even improve the car in other areas even more, you will come out ahead and get the same enjoyment and get the same looks from drivers and passers by, it is all in the design of the car and how unique it is anyway! (case and point I had more people looking at my run down looking (before the paint job) '41 dodge than ever looked at my fully restored '66 Mustang) Thirdly, I have never seen a 'painted on tire' except in one of those old cartoons, maybe it is a new Japanese tire ready to split at highway speeds! (just kidding!!) Yes, I remember the post, the thing is, I ended up not doing that, just trying to float around some ideas, as I do not have the funds to waste on $200 whitewalls. Look at my signature, those are all of my cars, some have been in my family for many years and I was at the right place at the right time, but, some were not, the '48 was my grandpa's but he had to sell it and 16 years later I bought it back, and I bought the Mustang with money I saved, when I was 12, and they all run great and I drive them all almost everyday, I pay for the repairs, insurance, registration and all of the odds and ends, and I am only 19! not retired, in my 50's 40's or even 30's and to top it all off, I am in college! You and I should start our own T.V. show sparring about the old cars! It would be great!
  19. Of course the 'apologized' because they would have been put in jail! And they were caught in the act!
  20. Wenthur, Sent you, a pm. Give me a call so, we can talk about the parts
  21. My car will stay with me and not ever be modified or sold!
  22. Well, I am not jealous of those guys that spend 50 or 100 thousand on a car, I just think that it is stupid to pay that much for any one car (no offense to anyone that has), when you can buy several cars and make them all look great and run great for a fraction of that cost. Most of the 'restored' cars are driven once a month and do not run that great, due to the fact that they are not driven. Old Cars are meant to be driven! And more people look at my unrestored '48 than a fully restored 'unimaginative' '57 chevy. You can make any car look great for a fraction of what those other guys are spending, fo example, my 1941 Dodge has an Earl Scheib paint job and when it sits next to the other old cars it looks just as good as the ones that have 10000 dollar paint jobs, and in fact they all ask me where I got the paint done at and when I tell them where they are surprised (it all depends what shop you go to). But, in my opinion, it is ridiculous to spend 50 or 100 grand on any restoration especially if you want to drive it and enjoy it (unless it is a Tucker!)
  23. What a perfect example of Taking freedoms away from us, we should be able to have whatever we want in our driveways, the guy, was trying to steal it because he would have not said that he would come back. When I have been in Texas, I see some awful 70's-90's junkers driving around why are those not being towed? Turn your wheel as far as it will go to one side or another and put one of those CLUBS on it and lock the doors and trunk and keep the hood closed and a kill switch on and maybe park a car behind it for now.
