  1. Interesting, years before our museum. Thanks for posting.
  2. Greg Stanley has an excellent podcast called “CarCollector Podcast” and Hagerty also has a good one titled “Hagerty Sidedrafts”. The America Web Radio program called Classic Car Show has OK content, but the production value is so pathetic and distracting it’s almost unlistenable.
  3. I wonder how many of those cars still exist. I would imagine almost all of them.
  4. Wonderful to see how trim everyone was, unlike the human Zeppelins of today riding around at Hershey in scooters with the pop can dangling in front.
  5. Hi, in March my wife and I will be in the Sacramento CA area. I’ve been told there is a great yard out that way. Anyone know of this place? Thanks in advance.
  6. These parts came with a 1948 Lincoln I purchased recently. I’d prefer to sell everything at one time but I’ll take offers on individual pieces as well. Money is always a factor, but I’d like to have them go to a good home rather than just have them sitting on a shelf in my garage. Call me with questions and or offers. I live near Chicago 847-997-9944
  7. I have battery disconnects on all three of my toy cars. Without them, I could not sleep at night. I’m sorry to hear of your loss.
  8. That IS a great story!, I’ve had a dream for years that I would find my 1970 Ford XL Sportsroof.
  9. All, my ‘48 Continental Cabriolet came with a generic Unity spotlight in fair condition with some pitted and worn chrome.. This spotlight does not have the “Lincoln” logo, is 12 volt (my car is 6) and has a dent in the light dome. For these reasons, and because the light is right in front for all to see, I’m thinking of just getting a new one from Unity. Cost delivered will be about $320, which I think is pretty reasonable. Question is, in 1948, would it most like have an ivory or black handle? Either is available. My interior is maroon leather. Any input would be helpful.
  10. Well Tom, I found out today that there is a Bulb “sleeve” that apparently holds the bulb next to the switch. That’s the piece I need. I don’t have a picture of it but one of the Zephyr vendors has one but will be gone until February.........so if anyone out there has one of these, please let me know. Thanks as always Tom! Stay safe.
  11. Thanks for the response. That hole you see is for the mounting stud for the radio speaker. it looks like it should be the one, but its not. I know its a lot to ask, but think you could climb under there and see how your ignition key is illuminated?? That would help me a lot in determining if I have the wrong switch that has no port for a bulb OR I'm missing a small bracket that is supposed to secure the bulb socket to the switch. Thanks in advance, this thing is driving me nuts.
  12. Anyone have a clean diagram of the 1948 Lincoln steering column diagram depicting bearings, races and bushings? Thanks
  13. Tom, I think that switch is for a Lincoln, not a Continental, also mine does have a clear plastic piece that goes around the tumblers. Here’s a picture of it.
  14. Tom, here’s a picture of my issue. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how this bulb should be installed.
  15. Anyone know how this bulb attaches to this ignition switch?
  16. Thanks Tom, I was able to find out that I’m missing a tiny metal spring clip that holds the bulb and it secured to the switch by one of the bottom screws. All I have to do is locate that small bracket. And thanks for always responding!
  17. Hi can anyone tell or show me how the light for the 1948 Continental ignition switch is supposed to be fixed to the dash? Its shown in the wiring diagram and I have a wire and bulb coming out of the harness, but I can’t figure how it was originally mounted.

  19. What a great story! Can you provide more details?
  20. I have one that came with the 48 I recently purchased. I live near Chicago. Like to have it go to a good home and I have no need for it. It looks solid to me. Call me to discuss. 847-997-9944
  21. Well, it’s out and I’m so glad I did. Now I have room and can go through every tag every wire and replace every vacuum hose.
