Love this car!
1953 Pontiac Parisienne.
Can see why. She is a beaut!

Can guarantee you that if your posts were viewed as a nuisance, you would know! Folk are mighty quick to complain, and slower than molasses in January to say thanks!

Am I missing something here?
The MC was deemed shot/not able to be rebuilt. That tells me there are rebuilt units out there for purchase. It just means you do not get a core refund at the time of purchase. Makes it more expensive, yes, but certainly not anywhere near the cost to convert to power disc brakes.

It seems to me if someone was serious about wanting to sell a car, be it a 55 Bird or a 59 Chev, they would take the time to post a pic of the ride?
But hey, what do I know, I am just a member of the prospective buyer audience?

These shows represent anything but the "real world," even though they advertise as being "reality tv.
Car Collector Chronicles did an article on these shows in the Dec. issue, found here -

Have been following this thread and just read your last msg. I am no expert, by any means. At the same time, I do feel I know enough to safely say that "sparks jumping outside the generator housing occasionally" is most definitely not normal, be it a 6 or 12 volt system. good move on the 0-10 V meter.

I use straight 20w, but then I am wierd! As for brand, whatever I can find in that weight. Have no idea what oil pressure is at idle?

Did you see this Avanti T-shirt for sale?

Seems to me it should be a "must have" for you?

Think of how much better the Cadillac convertible would look without the garish continental kit hanging off the rear. The only car, to my sense of proportion, that looks good with a continental kit were the original Lincolns that gave them the name Continenetal Kits. They were integrated into the trunk of these cars and seemed to be integral to the design. Add-ons are add-ons, no way around it.
Just my $.02.

I wholeheartedly second this notion!

Does anyone know where I can buy 6v volt gauge to mount under the dash?
A volts gauge is a volts gauge, is it not? I certainly would want one that reads more than 6 volts, in order to get a more accurate picture of what is actually going on. Ideal would be a 10 V gauge.

As I have the sister to this car (with 35K on the odometer, but no wonder bar or safety sentinel) I would be intererested in knowing the actual sale price. if/when it sells, if you do not mind. A PM would be fine. Thanks and good luck!

Adobe Acrobat, not Reader, permits you to call up the original .pdf file and then save it in .jpeg format.Hi, sorry. I have been posting as PDF because I don't have the original image files/jpegs. I am helping a museum, and this is what they have sent me in order to avoid emailing large files. I'm not sure of how else I can include the images other than jpeg.?Amanda

Understand a Corvair sold for nearly $24K!

You want a light oil, like 3-in-1 (sewing machine oil?) and use sparingly.

Makes 2 of us that were at the track that year. Me, I was a college student in Indy at the time. The athletic director at our school was also the fire chief at the track, which got us in the pits and garage, which was quite secure back in those days. Yeah, Andy had a mechanical problem with the car, and nearly before he could diagnose/fix it, the car was banned by USAC!

I jdo not know about anyone else, but photos uploaded in .pdf format are not displayed for my in thumbnail format. They require extra work on my part to view, which I may or may not undertake, depending on the photo. Just mentioning this so that the uploaders are aware the diminished exposure her on the forum.

I find it real interesting how the angle of the Ford shot makes the car look far more sleek than it actually was.

As an Olds owner/fan, I would like to see this thread in the Olds section, where other Olds fanatics could enjoy the content and contribute.

I did not know that Dickey Lee recorded enough songs in his entire career to put together an album/tape?

Clearly a '47 Olds is depicted.

How about, in 1963, driving a rather rare 1960 Olds with a factory stick?

Another option is to call Fusick. I would not expect it to have it, but it may have useful contacts for you?

Where may one learn more about this car? Is it of Canadian origin, as they did have a Parisienne model in their Pontiac line.
