  1. Ok, I did in fact "google it." I now know more about torque tubes and torque balls than I either want or need to know! (The torque ball permits variances in alignment between the transmission and rear end.)

I have to wonder why Buick stayed with this technology when the rest of GM did not?

  2. On a Cadillac forum I frequent I guy was inquiring about the availability of computer for his Allante:

I suggested he contact Dick Hussey.

He then wanted to know how to do that.

As I did not have the info in front of me, I suggested he "google" his name.

Another forum user jumped in and reamed me a new one for providing partial info which was next to useless in his opinion. I guess he wanted me to give him his address, ph. #, email and write or call him for the person looking for info?

    Bottom line:

I am not offended by you suggestion to "google it," and shall do so!

  3. Have been following this thread, all the while wondering what is a torque ball? Where is it located, and what does it do? Do cars other than Buick have one?

    Educate a non-Buick owner! Thanks -

  4. It be official: The Mrs. & I shall be there. Have never been, and am looking forward to trying to take it all in. Not needing anything, but will be looking for Olds and Cad stuff.

We are staying at the Econo Lodge in Mechanicsburg. Anyone else staying there?

Should be able to spot us. We'll be the ones wearing Oldsmobile T-shirts (if it is warm enough), and carrying cameras.

    Looking forward to it!

  5. I know for Oldsmobile, and I always thought all of GM, the standard was 2 keys; octagon for ignition/doors, round for glovebox/trunk. It was still that way with Olds in '63 I am certain. It may have even been that way as late as 1967?

  6. How do you assume it's gratis? Several years back on Pawn Stars in its infancy there was mention by one of the experts about a $50 fee every time he was called in.

I'm thinking it's a whole lot more now.

Never saw that show, and never, ever see them factor in appraisal expense as part of costs when determining profit from sale. It just seems that appraisers cannot continue in business if they give away their expertise.

  7. Then there is American Pickers. I'll be up front and say right off the bat that I like the show.

-The experts they bring in on the show usually really know their stuff. Their motorcycle expert runs the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA, for example.

I did buy a scooter from them last July

As you seem to be quite knowledgeable re: Pickers, perhaps you can answer a question I have? On this show, as well as Pawn Stars, Storage Wars and the others, in the "real world," do appraisers routinely offer their services gratis? I think not?

I think the numbers matching crowd would be fine. There aren't as many as you might think. Is the body/VIn even stamped on a Dynaflow? What would be the identification to call it "numbers matching?"

I am not a Buick authority. I can tell you that the hydra-matics installed in Oldsmobiles are in fact numbered. The number appears on the GM Protect-O-Plate. I was merely trying to point out one factor to take into consideration. If it is not a problem/consideration, so much the better!
