Adam,
Well, that gives me a couple more places to check out, and West Allis is indeed in my neighborhood. Thanks for that info.
I shall indeed keep you posted on developments.

My solution is to use a lead additive. Note, I said additive, not substitute. I have not experienced the gasket probs, etc., mentioned earlier in this thread.

Todd,
I appreciate all the info. It is precisely the type of info I need; obtainable only from someone who has been there. At the very least, I will now be able to ask intelligent questions! I have printed out, and saved, your detailed message. Thanks again.

My ride (1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88) is in need of a new convertible top. I am in Milwaukee, WI. As she is pretty pristine, I do not want just anybody who calls themself a convertible top installer doing the work.
Any recommendations for a quality top installation in the Milwaukee area?
Thanks.

It is interesting to read all these comments, particularly since I am a member of both clubs. I have attended a NAOC national when it was in my home state of WI. Have yet to make it to an OCA national, but have been to a lot of our local shows.
I have to say I am most impressed with the OCA pub, Journey With Olds. It is quite professionally put together. I have no probs with the modifieds in OCA or the year restrictions in the NAOC.
I do think a merger of the two groups would in fact benefit both. In the meantime, I utilize what each has to offer in terms of my own interests.
At the risk of sounding nothing but pollyannish on the subject, I will go out on the limb and say I do favor the OCA over NAOC.

Thomas,
Yes, there is still a way to ascertain the origin of the car, for a few bucks. The serial #, which is stamped on the frame, on the right hand side, towards the rear of the engine compartment can be sent to Allied Vaughn, with a request for the build sheet. It will tell all about the car.
For info on how to reach Allied Vaughn, go to CLC website.

Thomas,
I am a bit surprised no one has answered your question. On behalf of all, I apologize for the tardiness.
The answer to your question is that all automatic transmissions, not just Cadillacs, are properly checked for fluid level with the fluid warm. This is because the fluid does expand when heated.

I have a friend who is seeking to get a set (4) Buick Chrome-plated road wheels. These have ten (10) slots, not spokes, and a center cap. It is pictured below, the 2d from the right:
I have also been told by one whom I consider knowledgeable that the offset for the front disc brake wheels is different than the offset for the rear drum brakes.
Anyone with info on a lead to a set of these wheels, PLEASE EMAIL me at OldsD88@gmail.com and I will pass the info on.
Thank you,

I too went from AON to American Collectors. What is the problem with American Collectors? They seem ok to me. Yes, there is a mileage limitation, but it is far more than I put on in a year. I recall no restrictios on where I drive the car.

Either the book "Setting the Pace," or the GM Heritage center will give you the original production figures for your model.
When it comes to Olds parts, I am constantly surprised by what is available on eBay.
Of course, a multitude of other GM parts fit the Olds. I know for a fact Chevy rear ashtrays are the same.
It always pays to have access to a Hollander Interchange Manual. Believe they go for around $49, which is not a large sum.
