  1. The blower motor on the 1990 runs continuously even with the ignition switch off. The battery has to be disconnected to make it quit. I suspect a blower module GM#15-72530 if I have looked it up correctly. I have not removed it from the car yet but from online pictures it looks like some type of TO-3 package semiconductor on a heat sink. Maybe a FET? Has anyone figured out how to repair these modules or have a clue? Close to $100.00 is a lot for one semiconductor! I figure some of the guys here must have tackled this problem. Thanks, Terry
  2. Thanks for the transaction Barney! Just what I needed. Terry
  3. I need a new Delco coil assemby complete with ICM and mounting plate. Everything needed to upgrade from our '90 Magnavox system. A unit from a '91 should work fine? Thanks, Terry Jones
  4. My 1990 will not start. I have tried ether in the intake and nothing. It has started and ran for about 15 seconds very rough. I checked the spark on one of the plugs with a spark tester. The spark is very weak and orange in color. Could this be the module? It is the original Magnavox coil system. I don't know what the circuit is on the module but maybe it cannot trigger the coils enough? The lemon only has 50,000 miles on it. Any suggestions welcome friends!
  5. Good article, must work similar to a vortex
  6. I modified our GMC truck to R-134a and now wish I had not. It just does not cool near as well as it used to. I am now going to use Enviro-Safe in the R-12 Reatta when needed. Freeze12 is getting very expensive. The Enviro-Safe is compatible with both systems I understand, besides it is cheaper. I will also use it in the truck. They have a decent website for it. Terry
  7. The factory service manual compressor mounting diagram is completely wrong from our '90 Reatta. I sent Barney some details a few years ago. Don't believe everything you read in the manual! The schematics for the power steering cutout are wrong as well. When I get the time I will send the info to Ronnie as well. Maybe some models were different on the brackets? Just some input. Terry
  8. Just got my hard drive back online. Ronnie you live in my area. Big - Lots has R134-A on sale for $8.00 a can. I am not depending on it, as usual they may be out of stock and have the other freon blend anyway in the basement. I do not have our reatta converted and have no intetion of doing so. I stil use Freeze12 in the reatta. Converted the truck to R-134A and it does not cool nearly as well. I did not know if you were interested (and anyone else) but might be of some help. Terry
  9. We had a pretty good hailstorm a couple of weeks ago. My Wife turned it in to insurance (State Farm) maybe a bad idea. I assume they will probably balk at paying for body repair on a 20 year old car, maybe totaling it out? The adjuster has not been out to look at it yet. Does anyone on this forum have any ideas? Should we forget it and not get more involved before registering a claim? They have already been sniffing around and cancelled the insurance on one of my rental properties in Oak Ridge because no one is living there currently. Looks like we Jabbed a hornet's nest! Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas. Terry
  10. Thanks for your input on the codes from Advance. I ordered a battery charger from them (cheaper than Amazon) and used the code P20 but that is only good for online purchases. I asked the manager on the phone if I could have it shipped to the local store and he rudely said no. That they do not ship items to the store. I informed him that it would save me about $15.00 shipping but no luck. He said I would have to pay for it in advance anyway and the code would do no good. That is in the Lenoir City store, maybe somewhere else someone will have more luck. I ordered the Schumacher SE-1510MA it looks like a decent charger, especially with the discount. Terry
  11. Carl Cowles is a fine guy to deal with. It was a toss up to get one from Jim, which I think a lot of, or get one with a warranty. Carl (Digital Dash Solutions) sent me one that did not work and paid for the return shipping. My display now works fine. $150.00

  13. I just found out that R-134A is going out of style and ordered a few cans of Enviro-Safe for $5.00 a can from Ebay. It is supposed to be a replacement for R-12 as well as R-134A. The only downside is that I suspect that it might be slightly flamable. Any comments? Terry
  14. I have not been checking out the forum for a couple of weeks but just happened to check out your post. I by coincidence checked RockAuto.com for the same thing and they have a few A/C Delco hood supports left. When doing a search go under body-hood supports. They have other brands as well but the previous poster brought up a good point that I had not thought of. Hope this helps, Terry Jones
  15. Look at this link if it will work, I am an old Olds fan! 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Concept chassis information. 5967
  16. Could it be wax buildup? Looks similar.
  17. I recieved an email from Rock Auto, they have a clearance on some Reatta parts, If interested:RockAuto Auto Parts

  19. My Reatta will not start and my display is still messed up. Just spent $888.00 on our Chrysler van (bad PCM and crank sensor). The Reatta went out on the same day by chance. I cannot read the error codes and am seriously considering going in the piggy bank and purchasing an OBD scanner that will work for OBDI AND OBDII. I found one at Amazon that will do both for around $189.00. It is:Equus 3140 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner for OBDI and OBDII Vehicles. Any comments or suggestions?
  20. As a note, I had an old body shop guy who has now gone out of business from retirement offer to replace the headliner in my Reatta for free (I already had the material) he warned against using the spray. He insisted instead of using the same adhesive that he installed vinyl tops, he called it "Bull Snot". Has anyone on this forum ever heard of using it instead of the spray even though the spray I have is labeled "high temp"? I have been driving around without a headliner for the past couple of years, reluctant to try to install the fabric. I have put vinyl headliners in both my 1980 Blazer and S-15 truck but the 3-M did not hold very long. I am very interested in whether anyone has used the vinyl top adhesive for this purpose. He claimed it gave him working time to smooth everything out before the glue dried and did not decompose. Terry
  21. I found touch up paint for the gunmetal grey paint from Levineautoparts. They custom mixed the proper color given the paint code. I purchased a 12oz. spray can, I assume they have other Touch Up Paint Spray Cans - Body Shop Supplies
  22. Are there any pictures available for a Driftwood color Reatta? I tried to look on Ebay and even the completed items but none found. I have a 1986 Toronado with touring option and is similar color to what I assume is driftwood. Most people do not like the color but I fell in love with the car. (The 1986 Toro would run rings around the 1990 Reatta!) That must be a beautiful car but I don't recall that as a color option.
  23. Not flammable. It used to be sold locally but I can't find it around here in Lenoir City in the local stores. I bought my last from a guy on Ebay. Freeze12 have their own website. I am not promoting it but I will not use anything else in my Reatta. Three cans from the guy on ebay are around thirty bucks plus shipping but it is much cheaper than converting and certainly cheaper than purchasing r-12! I am certified to buy and install freon in cars (anyone can be certified) even though I am no novice myself. I watched a professional (who is that?) air guy mix Freeze12 (in my Brother's car) with R12 in a vehicle with no complications even though it is against the law and the car has worked fine for years. I think I feel good about the fact that I do not have two different oils mixing around in the system. It is impossible to flush all the oil out. Just one Man's opinion. Terry
  24. I have converted my truck with R134 and was not satisfied with the cooling. I replaced the compressor on our 1990 Reatta and instead of converting I used Freeze12. It cools as good as the R-12 and much better than the R134 and you don't have to flush the system and use different oil. Much simpler job and better cooling! TJ
