  1. Looks like a neat car, honestly described. How did you get a chamelion steering wheel? Turns from red/yellow to red again?? Did these cars not have the braces that run above the battery & air cleaner case?? Seriously, good luck w/sale. I'm just another old fart on the forum. 89REATTAJIM
  2. Too bad you aren't near Tampa. You have the same repair system that I do. Would enjoy sharing "repair days" 89REATTAJIM
  3. Underhood light does only come on w/parking lights and maybe headlights. Don't invent electrical problems, they will come along by themselves.
  4. Padgett: If something can be put together I will try to help, attend etc. I sent you a PM awhile back. I'm in Tampa but have relatives in Orlando too. (Other than Mickey). If you get serious about an event, let me know. 89REATTAJIM
  5. Further down the page, you will find 2 threads on headlite motors. Sounds like Barney Eaton's "Kits" will solve your problem. Good Luck.
  6. Don't understand why headlight motors are running your battery down. Perhaps someone else can give you a clue. As far as Barney's "Kits", they are great. Much easier to install than I expected. Took about 1.5 hrs to do the first light, (including find tools, grease, beer break, etc). Should be able to do the other side in less than an hour. Good luck.
  7. I had no idea that I was a RPC scofflaw. My valve caps are BLACK. Will check my spare next time I'm looking thru the trunk. Is there anything on line that shows the judging specs for Reattas??
  8. Rec'd my 2 kits from Barney. We repaired driver side yesterday. The bellcrank was barely worn, but replaced it anyway. The plastic rollers had completely turned to powder. Had no problems at all as far as disassembly/reassembly. Even the 1/4 inch screws came out easily. Thnx to instructions on reatta.net & Barney's enclosure with parts. Will tackle the passenger side next Mon.
  9. Really sorry, I will have to miss this event. If you get to Fl in Oct, will have my 89 coupe at the "Ybor City Chicken Funeral". Date to be announced.
  10. Realize it may sound dumb & others may have a better idea, but it's FREE: Try disconnecting battery for a minute or so, reconnect & try a/c. You will lose radio settings, but it worked on my 89.
  11. Lane, welcome to the world of Reattas. Got mine 11/04 85k. Had a few minor problems, but am correcting with help from the great "forum people". Check out the Cassette repair link. Prob could not have done mine without it.
  12. Recently ordered 2 kits from Barney. Wish I had finished my repair before reading your post. Paranoia strikes.
  13. Greg, interesting article, thanks. I suppose others have cars they care about too. (Though I can't see why anyone would go for anything other than a Reatta.)
  14. Please keep us posted on this. Would like to get one also.
  15. Think he wants $250. Go get another one & go into the parts business. Jim
  16. Padgett, hate to show my ignorance, but is a topless LM some model of Corvair? As in L???Monza?? Saw a couple nice ones at Dade City Car Show on Sat 5/4. If not, just ignore this post.
  17. Welcome to the world of Reattas.... Great bunch of guys here that will help and advise.
  18. Pls advise what it takes to solve the remote antenna problem. Mine has a range of about 2 feet from rear outside of driver's door. Works fine INSIDE car. I'll check out Barney's advise on antenna foil/connection today.
  19. Seems that the hose just swells inside & closes up. The master cylinder exerts enough force to push fluid into the caliper, but there is not enough pressure from caliper to push fluid back. Just my observation.
  20. Barney, are these still available? Price on 2 kits sent to Fl (33614)? Sent U an Email on 5/28. Must have been lost in the cyberzone.. Tks. Jim
  21. Just had same prob on my '89. Corrected with front brake hoses (rt side was dragging). Replaced both while I was at it. Got them at Autozone for $25 each. Had same problem on '84 Fiero few yrs back. I would try hoses first, not a bad job to replace them.
  22. Interesting....my '89 is the same. I too thought soneone had done a "quick fix"
  23. On my Sunday drive from Tampa to Lake Wales & Winter Haven, passed a very nice Red W/red trim & sunroof. It was in Lakeland, Fl & had Virginia tag. Was it one of you guys? Welcome to Fl.
  24. Believe I read in the '89 Owner's Manual NO trailer towing. My thought would be a light trailer with a sturdy hitch and not much load weight in car should be OK.
