  1. Recently bought a latch w/key from Ebay. It's in fine condition, even with screws. Problem: it's a very dark "Maroon"? color. My '89 is the brighter, redder, "Burgandy"??. Anybody want to trade?? Also, any hints on removing the lock cylinder from this latch? Thanx
  2. Welcome to Reatta world. As you have seen, there are many good folks here willing to help with any problem that may arise. Looks like the balancer may solve your problem. Are you in Ruskin, Fl?? Jim
  3. Saw a black/black in South Tampa last Saturday (8/20). One of you guys/gals??
  4. Not necessarily so. For dynamic balance, a "for instance": 1/2 oz on both sides may work better than 1 oz on one side.
  5. Nick, have seen machine you describe. Ours looked like a push style power mower. Heavy cast aluminum base with sections for various weights. Motor mounted on front with arms to push to start and make contact with tire. Been Googling, but can't find one..... Jim
  6. Vincent, as an older "Grease Monkey" (late 50's early 60's) we used a neat rig that spun the wheels on the car. It used a magnetic pick up and a strobe light. It balanced the assembly of tire/rim, brake drum & hubcap. We could "tweak" the static/dynamic by shifting weights from outside to inside. Found a lot of "balance" problems to be slightly out of round tires. "THANKS FOR THR MEMORIES"....... Jim
  7. Thanks, I've been wondering about that. Jim
  8. Welcome to the world of Reattas. You will find this forum to be very helpful, with a lot of knowledgeable members. As far as parts, plan any project in advance & gather up what you need beforehand. Don't plan to make a run to parts store to get everything you need. (Took me 3 days to get a PCV hose from Chev Dealer). For the more unique parts, you will find sources here on the forum. The cassette deck can be removed as a unit, radio will continue to function without it. Not sure how to hook up new equipment, but "F14Crazy" or others will probably offer some good advice. Check out the procedure for flushing the brake fluid, it's a recommended operation.
  9. Forgive my lack of terminology, but on my '89 (WHITE), the battery cable/s have wires that branch off to several different terminals. Any chance one of the "branch" wires is bad?? Worth a look....... Good luck & pls post when you find problem. Jim
  10. Doesn't a "bonnet" also keep the hair in place?? (Sorry, couldn't resist being a smart a**).
  11. Mine did this after I changed the PCV valve. The rubber hose to the intake manifold from the PCV was broken. Dealer part.
  12. As usual, thnx for all the replies. Just bought my R last November. No indication of plugs ever being changed. Pulled 1 front & 1 rear, they both look new. Will wait awhile. But will keep the hints in mind when the time comes to change them. THREE days to get upper PVC hose from local dealer...???
  13. Any helpful hints on R&R the 3 plugs on firewall side? Or do we just live with the bloodied hands? If the "dogbone" mount is unbolted, can engine be tilted forward to provide more access room? Any help will be appreciated.
  14. Welcome to the Reatta forum. There are several parts sources that I'm sure will reply to your post. I believe all whites were the same. Where are you located? I know of possible parts cars in Tampa area.
  15. Shoman, note copy of my old post.. Was this you? We should try to get Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando guys (Whoops!) "Owners" (including ladies) together. Will be good if Feb meeting takes place. I vote for Sunday. It was in Lakeland, Fl & had Virginia tag. Was it one of you guys? Welcome to Fl. Post Extras: Pages: 1
  16. Sent this guy an Email this AM. Requested GM part # for this item. Not surprised, but no reply as of 5:35 PM 7/25.
  17. Thnx for info.... Did you read post "Orlando Reattas"? Looks like Barney may try to get a meet together in Feb. Where are you in Fl? Jim
  18. Rec'd dash mat today from Mr Eaton. Looks & fits really great. Only issue I have is the velcro tape that attaches to the dash to hold mat in place. Concerned that tape might leave marks if/when removed. Anyone have any experience with this? Thank you, Barney, for prompt handling. Jim
  19. Pls do keep us advised. Would be glad to make the trip to "Mouseville" to meet some other owners. Jim
  20. Let's see.... If I leave Tampa right now....... No, can't quite make it. Hope you guys have a good time. Jim
  21. Randy, pls re-read my post. Did not infer that you are an "O.F." or a "Geezer". I claim the title. Based on daughters ages, I win. (38 & 40 yrs). Was just trying to compliment F14. He's same age as my 2 grandsons. Jim
  22. Nice post Randy. F14 seems to be the type of person (I didn't say "KID") that make good role models for their peers. We could use more of them. Hope it's not an embarrassment to be praised by an old fart......(Me, not Randy). Jim
  23. Would much rather do h'lites than brakes.
  24. Just a suggestion: if the other light has never been repaired I would go ahead & do it, if for no other reason than the procedure would still be fresh in my mind. (At least that's how us old fa**s think). Jim
  25. Mistake was removing brake hose from caliper. Now the system needs to be "bled" to remove air from lines. Check service manual for bleeding instructions. Too many beers from EDBSO's tutorial???
