  1. Well, I replaced the Cam Sensor. It wasn't the problem. Looks like it is the ECm itslef. According to the wonderful manual I have, if I am getting over 6 volts at the 1C5 pin in the number 1 harness that goes into the ECM, everything before that point is ok. It is either a bad connection or a faulty ECM. I cleaned the connection and I still get the code. Anyone know where I can find a new ECM and /or how much they cost?
  2. You guys are great. Thanks alot. I wasn't looking forward to hanging upside down in the passenger seat to work on that ECM. Thanks again!
  3. Hey all, I am turning the fate of my reatta to the intellegence of this board once again. I got a warning that I had an electrical prolem. After checking the diagnostics I got the code E041. The problem, the book says, is possibly the connections at the ECM. I have checked everything else and it's all fine. Anyway, the question is, How do I pull the wire harnesses out of the ECM to remove it. I want to try to clean the connections and see if that fixes it. I got under the dash and pulled that all apart and arrived at the ECM. I know to remove it I take out that one Torx screw and it slides out, but I have to remove the wire harnesses. I tried a little, but I felt like I was going to break some wires so I thought I would ask how those harnesses work. Thanks in advance. jorge.
  4. I did mine and I found it very easy to do. I know there is somewhere on the internet that sells headliner fabric, so you get that nice sof cushy feel, and then auto parts store has the glue, as said before. If i can find the site, I will post it.
  5. I had the E063 code pop up at the end of a 170 mile trip. I looked it up and it says it is a "Small EGR Fault" what does that mean, and how can I fix it? I hope "small" doesnt mean expensive in reatta language. thanks
  6. I have had my reatta up to 138 on a straight "eisenhower" (Sp?) highway here in Illinois. And yes, there is lift, thats why I didnt go any faster. I have the ticket somewhere of when I was slowing down and got caught going 95. I got pretty lucky on that one.
  7. One of my good friends had an 89 Riv. I rode in it before I had my reatta, and it reminds me alot of the interior of the Reatta. As a matter of fact, it was the same color as mine (White outside, red inside). He liked it, and wanted to keep it, but it had a few problems, but those were becasue of the previous owner (a kid who ran it to hell and back) but overall, I think they are good cars. I would like to have an 88 or 89 Riv sometime, just no space.
  8. Is the owner from around spfld? I think I have seen it before (i'm from spfld IL), or atleast a yellow one, and since it looks like there arnt many yellow ones, I am sure I have seen it. I love the exhaust on that car, does anyone know anything about how to go about getting info on it? -beautiful car by the way
  9. One thing to consider when headlights wont raise, is the wiring. When I first got my 88, only one light opened (drivers side) and the passenger side only opened manually. I did some tests on the wires, and the passenger side one wasnt getting any voltage when I pushed the button. the wiring on those are very weird, I cant remember how it worked exactly, but it was odd. Funny thing is, I got it to work by jumping it into the drivers side light, but after about 4 uses, it stopped again. This time it was the rollers becasue it had sat so long un used they turned to dust. I wonder how long the guy before me did have use of that light. He told me he took it to a shop and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. Now, I dont take my car to shops for diagnosis because they never know, I jsut have to study this board, figure out whats wrong, and tell teh mechanic to fix it if I dont have the right tools.
  10. I personally like the 88 model becasue it was the first year the car came out, and it has the touch screen computer. As big of a head ache is, its always great when you tell someone you have a touch screen, and they ask what year it is, and you respond "88". The look is amazing.
  11. Alright, hers the deal, after some fooling around, they flash with the headlights on or off, doesnt matter. When I flip ont he brights, the flashing stops. Which relay is it on the inside? and Can I replace it to fix the problem? Thanks
  12. I am just wondering if what people thoughts are on Stock vs. Modified. I personally prefer stock cars when they are classics. For example, I have a 62 Le Sabre 4 door with the tri carb raised manifold package, stock. I would never want to tamper with that, but with my reatta, I have mixed emotions on superchargers and performance exhaust, etc. What are peoples thoughts?
  13. Hi, I;ve got a problem with my fog lights that has be baffled. Durring the day, I turn them on and everything is fine, but at night, I turn them on and they flash like crazy. I know they dont do it durring the day becasue it makes a clicking sound, like its the relay or something. Any help would be great, thanks, ~Chris
  14. I have torn down each break component, cleaned to where i could eat off of it and lubed it all up....and it still squeaks. I have foundthat if I put it in reverse, and hold teh break down a little, it will stop for a while. Could it be that my pads are moving on me? I was told that If I glue the pads to the caliper, it should stop. Does anyone think that would work?
  15. Hey, I hope you guys can be as helpful as you have before. I have had my 1988 Reatta since may (appx 9 months) in late june/early july a squeal started to manifest itself in the brakes. It has gotten slightly worse, but not terrible. I orrigionally thought it was the pads, but i have replaced those, then i replaced teh calipers (all four $$$$) and cradles, and had teh discs turned. I had a terrible alignment on the wheels, but just got new tires in december and had the tires aligned. The mechanic found that the tie rod ends needed to be replaced, and when he went to do that, something was full of stearing wheel fluid (i cant remember what it was) so the Rach and pinion had to be replaced. a seventy dollar job turned into 460. Anyway, the tires are now aligned, and the brakes still squeal. It is only when I apply the brake, though I have heard it when I am just driving, but very very rarely. I cant tell you which side it is, becasue it moves around. If it is squealing, and i apply the brake a little harder, the squeal jumps to another tire, but i believe it is ont eh drivers side. I have had the brake lines flushed. The most recent development is sometimes, again, not always, and it only does it rarely, the brakes grind while stopping. I have a 62 le sabre and it was doing this, and i looked at it and everything seemed fine, until one day i heard a loud pop and then had no breaks. Thats when the weather turned bad, and my garage only being big enough to hold the le sabre, I havent had a chance to see what happened to it, and seeing as though the reatta is my daily driver, I dont want that to happen to it. Any help will be well appreciated. On another note, if anyone wants to know how to hard wire a CD player into their reatta, i know where the speaker wires go, and how to do that. Again, thanks, ~jorge
