  1. I was not trying to get the editors to just post their news letters on their web sites. I do know for example that the Minnesota Region publication, Northern Lights would take all night to download that. What I was trying to offer is, if the AACA could do it was: Have all of the publications in the exchange program available to download for any editor that wanted to do it. I have help in that department in that I have a club member who converts all of our chapter and the Minnesota Region Flyers to pdf for me so I can post them on our web site. The only thing I don't do is publish them on the web before our publications are in the mail. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
  2. All Right Now-I have to add my 2 cents to this discussion. Sorry but I have been busy either working (I can't believe my boss expects me to be in the office 5 days a week!) or trying to get another web site updated. I think it would be a GREAT IDEA to have access to the newsletters on the web. I would imageine it could be a big job to convert them all over to PDF files. I think that would be best because most people have the reader already or they can get one. Otherwise you will have a few other programs that people edit their newsletters in. If the editors can get the support of the AACA to have such a place on the web site to access this then you no longer will have to pay to send out extra issues. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

  4. Just wondering all you webmasters that have the "Members Only" section that is password protected what you have up there? Your member roster? Something else? And do you have one password or does each member get one?
  5. Hello: Best thing I can tell you is to look at other web sites and then you will get an idea of what you need. Also be sure to get feedback from your membership. I am always looking at other club's web sites to see if there is something I can do differently. I think it's Terry Bond who has said in the past that a "good website mirrors a good newsletter" as far as the content. And the final thing to add is if you have any questions just ask here. There are a bunch of us who love to share what we know. Good luck with your web site.
  6. Judy: The Minnesota Region uses bulk mail to mail out it's magazine. There is a fee that you pay every year. the region mails out about 450 magazines. If you PM me I can give you our editor's email address and you can ask them for more information.
  7. Hello all: Here is the web site for the AACA Logos. AACA Logos
  8. I just create a table from Front Page and use that.
  9. Hello: If I can add my 2 cents into this conversation. I use Front Page to edit my club's site and find out it works just fine. I think (and Peter G. can correct me if I'm wrong) that you need to publish the site via Front Page when you have your site on the AACA server. I like novaman do the changes off line and then publish the site. I find that Front Page uses most of the same commands as the rest of Microsoft's other programs. If I might suggest a book to read, it's called "Front Page 2003 for Dummies" written by Asha Dornfest. I am sure you can get it at most book stores. It's a good refrence book to have. Good Luck!
  10. Terry: Just wanted to say thank you to you and the Internet Committee for the award. Both came in the mail yesterday. It was for the Capitol City Chapter and the Central Chapter, both from Minnesota. Also thanks for including the award on a disk so it could be uploaded on the sites.
  11. I got my issue here in Minnesota late last week-I think it was Thursday.
  12. Terry: Thanks for the listing. Now the question I have is where do I get logo to use on our web site. Is it someplace on the AACA web site or do I contact Peter G to get a copy of the Award of Distinction.
  13. I hope you will call the National Headqquarters to let them know and they will send you a new issue. I got mine on Friday and it looked good.
  14. West: Well the computer you used in Minnesota does have a Fn key. It happens to be a HP, but then so is every other piece of computer equipment I have. I will have to try it next time I have to do a presentation. By the way people here are still talking about you coming to see us. Anyway, take care. The annual meeting is not in the plans this year but maybe next year. Brian
  15. Woody1: I just sent you a PM regarding this. Since we are the closest AACA Region. Brian
  16. Judy: Congrats to you. I keep waiting but then it's colder up here in MN so I guess the mail is slower. By the way, where do you get your backgrounds for both of the web sites? You can PM me if you want. PS: Can someone tell me what the SUN looks like? We are on 13 days and counting with out seeing the sun. Heck, it won't even snow much!! Brian
  17. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I am trying to revive a 'lost' newsletter for 1&2 cylinder REOs and need some advice. I would like to publish on a website instead of a newsletter -- the overall costs should be less. I browsed through this section and need additional info. I gather the AACA website uses MS Front Page. I am impressed with the results and did not know that Front Page was so robust. Is Front Page the best way to go? I noticed that MS Publisher also allows you to edit Web pages. Do y'all out there have a preference -- Front Page or Publisher? I have been looking around for a web hosting site but have not found a clear favorite. Any recommendations? I plan to start small and grow incrementally. Thanks in advance for any advice you have. I plan to read this section religiously from now on. </div></div> I will try to help you but remember this is my opinion only. 1) Some people like Front Page very much others do not. I use a couple of different programs including Front Page. It depends on how much knowledge you have of writing code. If you know how to do it and you are going to load it via ftp then you can use Note Pad or Word Pad to edit your site. If you have no experience in web sites then stick to a program such as Front Page. Most web site hosting companies support Front Page, you just have to ask them. As to web hosting, you can get anything from Free to hundreds of dollars per month. If you will send me a Private Message (PM) I can give you some sites to check out. Brian
  18. Don't mean to jump the gun but since this is the first year for our web site I am just wondering when the Web Site award winners get announced for 2005. I do recall when my wife and I were the Editors of the Minnesota Region publication that we used to get a letter around Christmas time. Is this the same time frame for the Web Site award winners also? Thanks in advance, Brian
  19. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">not a clue why... nothing on the server side would do that. do you edit on the server or do you "publish" your sites? Peter </div></div> Peter: The two AACA sites are published direct from Front Page. The third site I use FTP to transfer files. May be I just have gremlins in my computer. Brian
  20. Anyone out ther have an idea why Front Page 2003 would change a web site under 'My Websites' from a web site to just a sub file? This happened to both the Capitol City Chapter and the Central Chapter Web site that I oversee. I do know you can right click on any web site you have in Front Page and convert it manually but I did not. Just one day they were both sub files so I just created a new web site and imported the data. Any ideas would be helpful.
  21. I am looking for an engine and transmission for a 1915 Model T for my father-in-law. He is looking for an engine and transmission produced between August of 1914 to April of 1915. If you have any information please send me an Email or pm me. Thanks in advance, bfreed@webesearch.com
  22. I have a guest book on a site that I manage and it has a function that allows me to preview any post before it's up in the guest book. You can just delete the entry you don't want. I have never put a guest book up on the car club's web site but I hope this helps. tcmb67
  23. Terry: Thank you for the information. Brian
  24. Did I miss it or what. Was there ever a list published of the Web Site Award Winners. I don't even recall that it was in the Antique Automobile. I have looked for it ever since our chapter got a web site but have never found it.
