  1. Hey, is that Sterling Moss? I can attest that the paint's not flat. I had the pleasure of driving Barry's car last weekend. Wow, was it ever smooth (driving and looking). Looking down that long dark hood with nary a wave was REALLY elegant. Thanks for the thrill, Barry. I'll put you behind the driver's seat of my Packard next month.
  2. Okay, bad joke gone awry. My boss told me not to do this anymore. The Brush belongs to two of my brothers, but the axle is not broken. I believe, from the looks of Steve Braverman's photo, that the Franklin's chassis REALLY IS broken. There. I'm clean.
  3. Bob If you do it in the home kitchen, is there any tell-tale left behind that would throw up a red flag when (put your wife's name here) arrives home? What kind of smell does it leave?
  4. I've used it. It's as hard as a rock. Not sure how it would withstand the flexing of springs.

  6. Matt Harwood has a nice set-up in his home. I saw a nice oven for sale the other day at a garage sale (free for the taking... and it was clean, and worked perfectly... just didn't match the owner's new decor), and would have loved to have brought it home so that i could do some powder coating in my own shop. The problem is, I don't have a shop. I'm not sure what kind of smell the powder coating puts off, so maybe Matt can inform us if it would be prudent to do some powder coating in the kitchen oven while our wives are out shopping.

  9. It sounds like way more work than anyone I know has time for. Especially not knowing the condition the original paint. I was thinking sanding might be the only way to get to it.
  10. You missed a nice one at the RM auction in Detroit a couple weekends ago. Sold for $30,000.
  11. Wow!! Some neat and unique ideas. I wonder how long it will take you to think of something you wished you would have thought of when building it. I've never seen a "hobby" garage so well equipped (Jay Leno's garage notwithstanding). Here's one thiing you should think about: joining the AACA. We'd love to see your Oldsmobiles at one of our shows, especially Hershey. You may know by now that the AACA executive director is an Oldsmobile nut.
  12. Is there any economical way of getting back down to the original paint. We have a Brush that was "restored" quite a while ago. They painted over the original paint (not sure if it was enamel or lacquer, yet). In an effort to restore its original paint, I was wondering what could be done. Also, still looking for someone that can weld the axle.
  13. That car, as I think I said before, is gorgeous!! Would you trade for a 50,000-mile 1940 180 Touring Sedan with factory a/c and overdrive?

Be sure to watch! </div></div> Lot of Oil in Minnesota, is there? Add in the problem that the price of farmland is going through the roof because of this "corn into ethenol" thing, and I'm going to have to forget about retiring to Minnesota.

  16. Brewster As I suggested, try posting one photo per day and make this into an interesting topic.
  17. Wayne... Wayne.... Wayne The question is, "How many dumb questions can I generate by starting a Post in the Forum entitled, 'What is it?" The answer is, "one." Thanks, Cadlights. I knew I was going to hit my head after hearing the answer.
  18. This, I'm sure, will be easy, I've just drawn a complete blank.
  19. Boy... those are a couple of really happy looking dudes, aren't they? That would be a neat parade display with a Crosley on the back, eh?

For a new-comer to the hobby, she sure hit the nail on the head in restoring that car. Definately not overdone. Her Aunt was the original owner.
  21. I tend to agree. I had a friend who told me a story that changed my mind on this. He said that he didn't find out about a good friend's past until attending his funeral. It turned out that they had something in common that would have been a sure-fire bonding between the two.
  22. I go home. Except for what's parked in the garage, if you stepped into my house you'd never know that I was a car fanatic. No posters, no automobilia, basically nothing related to automobiles (no automotive "art" in the garage, either... just the car). It's actually very nice to step away.
