  1. Keep in mind that it's a postwar sign. I think it's poor condition will definitely reflect on its value.
  2. For many of us, the search is the fun. You do not get any of the thrill of finding a part by buying from a reproduction company.
  3. I love it, but I'm wondering if your insurance would allow for a 16-year-old to take the car out on his own. It seems that most insurance companies seem to frown on that, by way of increasing premiums to the point of unaffordable.
  4. Apparently you've never been in the right seat when I'm behind the wheel.
  5. I'm betting this is Bob Stevens' old car. Bob was editor of Cars & Parts for many, many years. One rarely sees a single-color Crown Vic.
  6. The Abernathy boys were featured on this front-page, which also features the Olds Limited.
  7. This is pretty cool. Looks to be the photos they used to make the famous painting.
  8. Wait, what?? They made you wash the barn before you could get the car out?
  9. Is it oval? Or round? Can't quite tell from the angle. I think all correct Ford stuff is oval.
  10. I ordered one for my '70 Camaro back in November. At that time, they said six to eight months. I haven't heard an update since January.
  11. At the time, we informed knowledgable A-M fanatics, and they said it was an unknown car and was the oldest then known to be in the U.S. It was a 1924 model, if I remember correctly.
  12. I was with my dad when we followed leads to this barn north of St. Paul. Rollston-bodied Duesenberg. In addition, there was a mid 1920s Aston Martin there as well.
  13. Ron I wouldn't read too much into thinking that the tires in the drawn illustration are grey. They may have been drawn a little bit darker in order to be able to differentiate the tire from the white background. Along with that, I was informed many years ago that original tires from that time period were never meant to be grey, even though a lot of them were sold that way. What happened was that after time, grease or soot (can't quite remember) got into the molds, and turned the later batches of the day grey.
  14. No offense here. It should have been torn down decades ago. Matt is correct, though, Detroit is a whole lot different now than it was 10 years ago. Quicken Loans has turned that place around, along with the dumping of the 12-level-deep of government corruption.
  15. We drove our 16-cylinder Cadillac from Minnesota to New York and back in 1972. It got about 5.5 mpg. We were told that was exceptional, as most didn't even get that much out of them. It was the one and only trip we took in that car. Most our car tours were done in a Packard, usually getting as much as 12 mpg. Nowadays, the cars seem to spend more time traveling in trailers to get to a destination, and the mileage on the truck is usually less than 8 mpg.
  16. Apparently a judge got into this car and took it out of gear... Not owner fault, nor mechanical fault.
  17. My newest car is more than 20 years old, and I've been driving with my high beams on all the time for quite some time now. Same results as you. Not one time has someone flashed me. My thought is that my high beams are much dimmer than the modern low-beam lights.
