  1. When I bought my car the guy told me it needed new speakers as the originals were still in place. Good advise. I just changed out the rear speakers to Kenwood 4 X 10 speakers and they sound terrific. Barry Manilow and Karen Carpenter never sounded better! So far so good. Next, I tackled the front drivers side. No sound was coming out so I bought a pair of Polk Audio 5 1/4 inch speakers. I just replaced the drivers side and still no sound. Apparently the problem is more that a blown speaker. I bought the correct connectors from EBAY so no cutting and splicing here. I hooked the new connector directly to the main hook-up by-passing the tweeter but still no sound. Ok, so the question is, does anyone know of a Reatta forum quick fix for this situation or do I need to pull the unit and have the radio serviced. I will replace the passengers side tomorrow and that side does have sound. I replaced the light bulbs in the drivers door too for good measure.

    Great helper

What a happy and nice looking dog! My uncle had one just like him and his name was Dusty. A house is a house but a home has a dog or a cat. Thanks for sharing
  3. I find it amazing that when you change the littlest thing with a Reatta it changes the whole vibe of the car. I think that is another unique thing about Reatta's. Thanks for the photo's guys, I really think the car looks great both ways. The cars posted with white letter tires look fantastic and very sporty. My car has a pretty fresh set of Michelins on it for now but who knows in the future. Just like the other thread with painted mirrors or side moldings, small changes are very noticeable on our cars. More so than other cars. I know the Reatta is a luxury car but you really need to add luxury "sports" car to describe it. Not to be mistaken as a muscle car, the Reatta is too sporty to be considered just another luxury car in my opinion.
  4. Hi All! I have been traveling and looking at nothing but photo's of my cars. I was just looking at my new Reatta and was trying to envision how the car would look with raised white letter tires. Does any one have photo's of a Reatta with raised letter tires? What is the rule of thumb about what cars get them and what cars don't?
  5. I am in agreement here as well. The condition of this car looks "like new" and for say $8250, you would have something very special. I just came off a massive search for my Reatta and can attest to the fact that low mileage well kept cars are getting good money. To me, that's a good thing KD, my daily driver 1991 Eldorado is dark metallic green with tan interior and your right, it's a wonderful color combination.
  6. You never cease to amaze me Barney, thanks for sharing the photo. It is so pretty, such a beautiful Reatta, Wow!
  7. There is a company called Drop Top Customs in Florida that customizes coupes and converts them to a convertible or targa top. I saw their work on a 1998 Corvette (fairway green in color, very striking car) and they did a spectacular job. Thanks for the photo Barney! The car looks great.
  8. I agree with you 100% Keith. I was just using the Corvette reference so people knew what I was talking about as it's very common and people have seen them. The only Ferrari s out here are in neighborhoods I rarely visit
  9. I have been reading a book about the history of the Buick Reatta. In the book they show photo's of a targa top Reatta prototype. To describe the car, it has a removable glass targa top just like the 1984-1996 (and more corvettes have) Corvette. You can remove it and still have the rear glass but experience the convertible feeling. My opinion, but if they would have brought the targa top Reatta to market n 1988 it might have been a game changer. If anyone has photo's of this beauty, please post them on this thread.
  10. I am a model year adviser for the Oldsmobile Club of America. The OCA has been putting together a 50 state list of trusted shops and mechanics that were recommended by the membership. It is a handy thing to have when traveling and a great reference guide. The BCA should consider putting together a similar list.
  11. You may try a Buick dealer if you want someone that knows your car. It may be pricey but I am sure you would get good results. I am pretty sure any ASE certified mechanic could assist you as well. The Reatta is different for sure but many of it's systems were shared with many other Buick's of that time. If you can be more specific about whats up with your car people here may be able to offer you some suggestions as well about how to fix it or where you should go for the repair. I hope this helps and good luck!
  12. Next time you post photos of your very cool car it should come with a warning ** sun glasses recommended for viewing** LOL Stunning, very beautiful car.
  13. Mirrors? Sounds like a custom paint project. You can't say you have paint matching mirrors Dave and not post a photo or two- That's just cruel!
  14. I just finished reading "The Buick Reatta-The Complete History" by Duncan Smith. Except for one lone car at The Reatta Craft Centre and prototypes, all the car photos are with black molding. Reading the book gave me an idea for a vanity plate--GM 33. Maybe a little inside baseball but the people who get it would really know their Reatta's
  15. Here is an ad on EBAY for a performance chip. It claims you can achieve an extra 35 HP and better gas mileage by installing it. Is there any truth to their claim? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-PERFORMANCE-CHIP-FOR-BUICK-REATTA-1988-1991-FUEL-SAVER-/141557641533?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20f57e313d&vxp=mtr
  16. The best advise I could give you is to be patient. The key to finding the perfect car is to wait until you find Mr or Ms Right. The longer you look the more knowledgeable you become about the cars and when the right one presents itself, you will know it without hesitation. Good luck.
  17. KD, if you could, please post a photo of your red vert with matching moldings. Nice!
  18. I have to admit my ignorance regarding side moldings. I have owned two previous Reattas and viewed countless cars but never realized you could order color matching body moldings till I bought my 1991. I though they were all black; black moldings look great on the car. Does anyone know how many cars came with black moldings vs paint matching moldings as a percentage? I would guess, based on my observations, that 90% of Reatta's had black moldings.
  19. Thanks for posting that list of Reatta parts and vendors Ronnie, very useful--already listed in my favorite places.
  20. I saw photo's and the youtube video of a previous years Reatta Rally and it looks like a blast, count me in. PM sent
  21. I think the one that ended up at $9500 did not sell but went to "the bid goes on" area of Mecum. I do not think it sold.
  22. Thanks guys for sharing your photo's, very nice indeed. I took a nice long drive with the top down yesterday and what a joy to drive. It handles like a dream and has such great manners. I don't know if it's the gran touring suspension or 16 inch rims but it drives differently than any car I have owned. The Buick Reatta is more than just another pretty face
  23. Hi Cal and welcome. As long as your buying the beers.....
