  2. I feel kind of out of the flow, I have no serious injuries to report even tho I work on my vehicles all the time. I am currently concentrating on the Lincoln and reassembling the V12. Will report blood sweat and tears in future post. Dave

  15. Sorry John, happy holiday present huh? It just doesn't make sense, kinda like driving a car on a lake or a boat down the highway. Hang in there, I am sure that door mentioned earlier will open. and I hope the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train. This too will pass. (my mom's favorite)
  16. Under the EBAY rules MEMBERS:.....MEMBERS.....MEMBERS....... I believe they are trying to infer EBAY MEMBERS on the EBAY site, using EBAY as a basis of contact thru EBAY membership and email contact to sell outside of EBAY or effect the outcome of a EBAY listing by openly slanderous remarks on the EBAY forum, or otherwise cost EBAY it's fair share. I do not belive those EBAY rules out weigh the bill of rights, or the constitution. What I/WE discuss in public and or in private is as you so aptly put it not open to threats so believe me no threat was taken, implied or otherwise. If you feel the need to keep your mouth shut while someone takes it in the butt buying an item said to be genuine when you know it is not, that is your privilage, as well as it is to point out the misrepresented item. EBAY, WALMART, MICROSOFT, all the rest have their rules. We have ours so thank you for not offering a threat towards us.
  17. Randall, if you decide to move to Canada I have this record to help you learn the language eh? If you need it let me know eh?
  18. the following from http://home.att.net/~Berliner-Ultrasonics/automotv.html#alcocars ALCO Automobiles I had forgotten entirely that there once was an ALCO automobile. An article by Fred H. Deusch on the Senior Times Website about Rhode Island automobile manufacturers notes that the "best known company to manufacture automobiles in Rhode Island was the American Locomotive Company"! "Between 1905 and 1908 their car, built under license from a French company, was known as the American Berliet. By 1909, the company wanted to build its own bigger and better car. The new car was called the Alco. Both in 1909 and 1910, Harry Grant won the Vanderbilt Cup Race driving an Alco." Duh! I knew that! "The Alco was such a fine car that it took no less than 19 months to build each one. All kinds of body styles were available as well as chassis for custom coach builders. The engine in the Alco was huge. The four cylinder engine displaced 453 cubic inches while the 6 cylinder displaced 579 cubic inches." "By early 1900's standards, only the very wealthy could afford an Alco. An ALCO even won early Vanderbilt Cup races{*}. Prices ranged from $6,000 to $7,500. At the end of 1913, American Locomotive announced the end of auto production. Even though the company had gross earnings of $34 million, not one cent of profit came from its automobiles. In fact, the company lost an average of $460 on each of the 5,000 cars it built. Most of the loss on each car was not due to manufacturing costs. Any time a purchasing agent would come in to buy locomotives, the company would give him a car as an inducement to buy their locomotives. So they stopped producing cars and went back to building just locomotives." "JUST"? * - Henry Fortune ("Harry") Grant, with mechanic Frank H. Lee, in the "Bête Noire" (Black Beast), won the 5th Cup race on 30 Oct 1909 at 62.81mph and the 6th on 01 Oct 1910 at 65.18mph. see attachment

  20. Thanksgiving morning bright and early I will be at my usual spot at gate 27 Daytona speedway (located at apex of turn three) taking money from peoples and placing stickers on their windshields so they can enter the infield and enjoy the Daytona Turkey Run (formely turkey rod run). Will propably be there all day plus Friday and Saturday as well. Not at the gate, just 4 hours there, at the vendors area and car corral (still won't see it all, never do). Happy Thanksgiving to you all and may you be safe and happy through the holiday season. Dave
  21. snow. is that the stuff those people play on in the winter olympics? You mean it really exists? I thought it was just a made for t.v. thing. I don't understand the shoveling references or the driveway thing, are these code words and phrases? Boy I've got a lot to learn about this old car forum stuff, I really feel out of place not knowing all the secret phrases and handshakes. I guess I'll get my driveway shovel and snow some fireplaces eh?
  22. Cat also requires all suppliers to meet their specs. If it's a Cat grade 8 you can belief it's that and then some. They have a full time testing system and lab that randomly tests all shipments. random and all? oh, you know what I mean
