  1. Looking good, especially since I just got finished seeding our corn this morning...with decent weather, our should be ready late August, so we won't miss it when we are down south. Yes, this is when panic time sets in. The Electra (driven class) has been cleaned up (for those of you who saw it in St. Paul, you can actually see now that it isn't black and that the paint is metallic. The top, while not perfect, is much cleaner. The wagon is presently laid up awaiting a few parts to make it a bit more driveable. After that, I need to spend some time in the garage with it and my friend Mr. Meguiar. I'm not entirely sure how I'll fit it all in, but there's just over a week of school left, so I'll have some extra slave labour around here. There's a couple of touch up items I'd like to do with the wagon, but not sure whether it will happen or not. Looking forward to it...even more so if the time off work was actually already approved.
  2. Thanks Rob. Any chance of you getting down to Ames? It would be good to see you again.
  3. Good shots. It is definitely a wet year on the prairies. About 1/4 of the farm land in Saskatchewan is expected to go unseeded because of excess moisture. Due in part to timing of rains, we just completed planting the garden today, although some ornamental stuff remains, but I don't care about those since I don't eat them.
  4. Good luck Mike...I tried the Mr. Mom thing, but the children were young then and I had difficulty with the lack of adult conversation. I hope it goes well with you. So, who is that on the coin? I don't know the images of the presidents well enough to be able to make it out.
  5. If you are a BCA member, you could ask the technical adviser. You may also contact LeBaron Bonney or Hampton Coach to ask if they have the answer. Of course, they may want you to buy from them if they give you advice. For 1929, a lot of that information is available, so I'm sure someone must have an answer. Good luck.
  6. John - it is the same general shape on '52s. I have a muffler for my car, but it is in poor shape. I'll try to measure what I have to be able to confirm. I guess the only missing dimension may be the outside diameter of the unit...that shouldn't really matter, but I'm thinking just in terms of a fit.
  7. Check the Yellow Pages for appraisers in your area. The other alternative is to check price guides - there are some online like NADA guides, VMR, and there is a printed old cars magazine style...there was a name change which escapes me at the moment and my wife moved the one that was beside the computer. You could also describe it here to the best of your ability with good photos and you may just find someone who is ready to give you a fair price. Good luck.
  8. Nice...there was a similar car at the Gopher State Spring Extravaganza.
  9. Jim - if it doesn't sell before then, you may want to consider registering it for the car corral at the BCA national meet in Ames, IA at the end of July. It isn't too far for you, and there will be many Buick lovers there.
  10. Cool. A bit more than I would want to pay though for a bit of automobilia.
  11. It will be riding in the trailer to Ames though...don't want any additional road damage before the car gets judged. We really do like it. The opinions expressed at the cruise, and Dennis' confirmation, really help to make it hit home that it is a great car and we got a great deal on it.
  12. I did pop the hood myself a number of times when folks asked or it came up in discussion, but put it back down again. The under hood area needs some cleaning up but is otherwise pretty nice.
  13. My '75 Electra with the 455 has a build date of April 8, 1975 and has no decal on the air cleaner lid. The car has had paint, but is otherwise unrestored.
  14. Paul (aka Willy) wrote both pieces...of course the technical data on the car was provided by me. He can get a little excited at times, but he's a good guy and a positive promoter of all things automotive in the region.
  15. By the cracking, it appears to be an emblem, or possibly paint. Buick generally put their emblems on in metal. Unless it was a form of personalization, perhaps it was a dealer's mark. To my recollection, Buick never used SS for anything. GS was the Buick brand.
  16. There are a couple errors, but still worth a read: Car of the Century - Winnipeg Free Press Autos The king has spoken - Winnipeg Free Press Autos
  17. Not the greatest shots, but hopefully this helps. These are from my '41 Special 41SE.
  18. Whilst we are here, I should also put up photos of some other Buicks that were there...a GN, '65 and '67 Rivieras, and '64 LeSabre convertible. Of course, there's also another gratuitous shot of the wagon sent to me by a the same fellow who sent me a few more shots (he has an Allure and is quite pleased with it...we have a Buickful conversation going on).
  19. Very nice Richard. That's a lot accomplished in six months. The colour combination looks good.
  20. Looks nice...I'll have to figure out if I can make space somewhere to display something like this. I've already got a few such beasts that are either hiding under dust or squirreled away (not as nice as this Danbury unit looks though).
  21. Thanks gang. Rich - I didn't know about the Pringles connection, but that explains the DJ talking about having his can of Pringles instead of the usual local favourite Old Dutch potato chips. Perhaps his thumbs are getting repetitive strain injury.... Lamar - I have the rubber corners from Metro, and I'm about to put my best people on it. Paul - I would almost take snow right now over the deluge we've had recently. I have been able to plant most of the fruit this spring, but can't get a garden in...it's too wet. Oh, the photo is for you...it was back. Dennis had previously been out in 2003 during cruising season and had been here a couple other times for World of Wheels. He had a niece that was living here at one point as well. Bob - I'm not a fan of butter, unless it is melted...that's how I maintain my BMI obese status
  22. Indeed. It makes me wish I had my new shop building up already....
