I was wondering how all that time in the car is working out as far as comfort? Early seats are at best usually a torture device after two hours. Temperature, wind, noise, vibration, and a snug cockpit…….all while keeping time, gas stops, traffic, lunch breaks……….and driving a 85year old car must add up to fatigue. And while both of you are good guys………12-16 hours a day with each other must also toss in a bit of friction. I can just see myself rolling out of the car late in the day……even with good times and a great running car………I would be beat. Overall for first timers you doing well……..probably better than one could expect. Keep up the good work, and Happy Motoring! 👍

Glad you found it, I knew it was going to be simple. The fact that it wouldn’t fire on starting fluid indicates timing issues when you have compression and spark. Good luck with the rest of the sorting. 👍

Seeing the above photos is giving me flashbacks……….to quantitive methods and statistics class. A time and place in my life when there was no joy…………and this is supposed to be fun? Here we go….

Dinner tonight at a private museum. The definition of obsessive compulsive collecting………a most impressive display of oil and gasoline I have ever seen. A unique property that is hard to describe. Todays lunch stop was impossible to beat……..until we came to dinner…….enjoy……….they will be hard to follow as the museum is about fifteen different buildings.

Wednesday next week I’m doing a brake job on a high end exotic. The scan tool to bleed the brakes is 74k…..and dealer only as of right now. Rumor is the Snap On scanner will have an upgrade of 8k and 1500 a year to keep current…….and you can bleed the brakes. I don’t expect the 20k small economy boxes to go this way……but you can bet your bippy the high end platforms are all headed this way………..how about the Tesla special charge to get the car back into the system if you buy it privately after a repair. Rumor is that when you buy a new car in the future, the subscription to the operating system and its upgrades will be like a cell phone or cable bill……never ending charges and upgrades that will be required to operate the car. Yes, this is already here on equipment……….a never ending bill if you want it to run. Hold on to your wallet…….. SEE POST ABOVE………he beat me to it.

All this dual technology is just a bunch of rubbish………it’s a way to make a car only serviceable by a dealer. The glitz and glamor they are selling is just a smoke screen to have their cars end up like the exotic jobs. 70 percent of the value of ALL car companies are not the manufacturing equity, but the dealer network. They are trying to secure the future where only they can fix the car. And the people will eat it up…….till they get the bill.

Interesting that the rings were stuck. Perfect example of why jumping in an running an engine is not a good idea like 98 percent of the people usually do. While they would probably have freed up after running a few minutes with temperature, pulling it apart is the correct solution. Same thing goes with the cooling system. It may work and function as is……..but forty years has taught me to just pull the radiator and flush it out of the car and do the heated evapo rust treatment to the block like we spoke about in other threads. Slow small steps……..one jibe at a time. Too many people just jump in and take everything apart and get over their heads and bogged down when they realize it will be months of free time to get it all back together.
