  1. Welcome to the forum HtH, stick around you'll learn alot on the forum. A fifty will be delivered to Kim on Mon., maybe even a Kiss, too.
  2. Yes Jan,2 pieces. I 'm not aware of the differant manifold. How is it differant?
  3. Randall, I somehow don't remember you matching each of the other's donations $100 for $100.
  4. If he's man enough to put up the money, which I know he is, I think he should be reinstated so he can handle the process himself. He was good enough to raise thousands of dollars for the roof, that should have gained him some respect.
  5. You are right, I guess that number would be a little smaller.
  6. Too bad Howie the Hustler isn't around, I'm sure the library could use a good donation from the forum members! It is that time of year.
  7. Jan, I think only the very early cars didn't have valve cover gaskets. My '24 did, and I bought new ones when i worked on the valves.
  8. South Paw, there was a contest when the car was buried. The contest was to guess the population of the US at the time when it is uncovered. Closest guess wins the car and it's contents. If the winner is dead the winner's heirs get the prize.
  9. The only way I'm paying $5 for your autograph is if it's on a $20 bill! I never knew you were a publicity hound.
  10. Thanks to both hchris and edalfa. My bud missed the end of the auction, but hooked up anyway as there were no bids. Because of you a '34 Plymouth owner in Germany is very happy!! He passes on a big THANK YOU!
  11. I'm trying to help a friend who is oversees locate kingpins for his '34 Plymouth . What other years would be the same and where can I send him to buy them? Kanter does not have them. Thanks
  12. Thanks and welcome to the forum Linda, I think since Bob Hope is gone we forget our troops are not home at Christmas. Isn't the blonde chic that got her mug on camera KRK Sr.'s sister, Allison?
  13. They were on both exhaust and intake, Jan. I don't want to take the head off if I don't have to, so I don't know if the valves are bent or not. I'll find out when I get it running. The pins SEEM to be the right length, fit in the recess after I compressed the spring and got it back in place. The only way I can see this happening is if the spring were compressed somehow. Thanks.
  14. The last I knew the ID block gives the caller the chance to verbally speak their name and callie has the choice to answer on not. No need to give a private number if you don't want to.
  15. While adjusting the valves on a DB four cylinder I noticed 3 of the springs and retainers "hung" down on one side about 1/4 inch. I thought at first the "keeper" pin that goes through the valve was broken. But when I compressed the spring the pin was only shifted out of place. I have no idea how long this could have been like this or how it got this way. I would think it would put a lot of strain on the spring. And it certainly affects the spring pressure as the spring is not compressed as it should be. Any ideas? Was/is this a common problem? Has anyone seen this before?
  16. Bob,my opinion on oil is that your engine is freshly rebuilt so detergent is OK. If it was an old engine and no filter better stick to NON. I ruined an old engine thinking I'd switch to high detergent oil. Never again.
  17. I saw a link on another site about this, can only be bought as one lot, no individual sales. Bigrig, I've never heard of the Davis injection either, perked my ears up too. Buy it so we can sort through the stuff!!!
  18. Thanks Peter. I thought I understood that the 315 number was at one moment of time. I had heard the 2500-5000 hits per day numbers before and wondered what exactly that meant. If I understand you correctly the DFers with a post count average off say 5 posts per day sure influence the hits per day numbers unless they are sitting in front of this stupid screen all day. They must be retired. Thanks again.
  19. Peter, if one person logs on or checks the site twice in one day are they counted once or twice?
  20. Click on the little flag that is blinking at the top of this list of threads.
  21. Skippy?, I've done this a few times and have had good luck so far.I'm assuming the engine turns over now and was NOT parked because of an engine problem? If that's true there is no reason to mess with any settings, like points, valves etc. they should still be OK. I remove the sparkplugs, squirt several shots of oil in each cylinder. With the plugs out, turn the engine over with the starter.Make sure there is compression in each cylinder by holding your finger over the plug hole while turning the engine over. With the plugs stuck in the wires ground the plug and check for spark. While turning over the engine make sure the oil light goes off, letting you know there is oil pressure. Also make sure the fuel pump is working while turning engine over. You may have to take the line apart at the pump to make sure. After knowing the pump is working, make sure the gas is getting to the carb. When you have fuel to carb, spark at plugs, and oil pressure put the plugs back in and try to start it. There's a lot of variables, a bad coil, weak spark, gummed up carb, etc., but start out and go in sequence. This is certlainly the condensed version, you may have trouble with several components. As you can see, my way turn the engine over many times before you actually try to start it. This sends oil to most parts and gets things moving that haven't worked for quite a while. Also, PM me if you want. I have a formula for your gas tank that works.
