  1. Absolutely, Brian. This makes me think of a sighting a few years ago as I was sitting in a restaurant in downtown St. Louis waiting to play a big band concert with our college band.. I looked out the window and I saw MY CAR at a stoplight!! Interestingly enough, it wasn't my car. It was another 71 twilight tuquoise 4 door sedan. I chased it out the door, but missed getting the owner's attention. There is a cascase blue 72 LeSabre 2 door with a black vinyl top over at Gateway Classic Cars that I tried to buy a couple months ago. The guy offered it to me one last time for $3500. This was just after I took possession of the 71 I now have.
  2. I vote to put it back.

  4. I read it right after you posted it, and chuckled a bit How are your articles coming?
  5. Got it today - great job, Pete!!! I'm looking forward to the 71-72 full size edition
  6. Brian, can you add my 71 LeSabre Custom? http://forums.aaca.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=344717&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
  7. nothing here yetttttttttttttttt
  8. Thanks:) I finished buffing and polishing the spots tonight just as the sun was setting. The paint is a hair thin on the quarter, but it's 100% better than it was. So I am satisfied with this fix. It's nearly impossible to touch up paint that is over 15 years old...or more. I have no idea how old this paint is. I plan on wetsanding the entire car with 2000 grit and buffing to smooth everything out. It has some orange peel that I'm not real happy with on the sides of the car. The hood and trunk both have some good surface scratches and swirl marks that I'd like to try to hide, also. Heck, this car may end up in Rochester anyway! Hank'll have to drive the 60 himself. He was able to drive it to the local cruise on Sunday, and loved it! He said it drives better than his 62 I have just a couple things to figure out before I can let it go, but they are easy.
  9. Greg, what's your email? adamm@buickpartsdirectory.com
  10. Added NOS bumper guards to the front and back today... I will go over the entire car with 2000 grit paper and buff it. I did half of the hood today, and it is a remarkable difference. It reminds me of the paint on my green car.....slick as snot!!
  11. Just received an email from the owner of a local cruise spot:::: <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> I know its late notice but Chuck-A-Burger is having its first car cruise of the season tomorrow jan. 8th from 12-4 at the St.Charles Location. 12. Thanks guys! I will take a look at the stop leak deal. I never thought about it.
  13. Very true, Bob. All that ever comes to mind with factory correct restos, is the Corvette crowd. Like I said, I've never seen a Buick with such a fanatical factory appearing restoration. Here is more discussion on this topic on the Buick Performance Group board: http://www.bpgforums.com/showthread.php?t=2113
  14. I remember seeing a similar thread a year or two ago on the v8buick board, and since I can see these things for myself on the 71 LeSabre I just bought, I thought I would share a few things I thought were interesting. The first thing I noticed, was that the distributor was installed prior to the engine being painted. The same goes for the fuel pump. You can see red overspray on both of these items. Keep in mind that this engine has 42K miles, and almost everything under the hood is original - with the exception of regular tune-up items. Also the number "14" is written on top of the vac advance can. Does anyone know why? Fuel pump - you have to squint to see it I've always wondered about this one - what did this sticker say originally? It is on the front of the drivers side valve cover. All of my cars have had this, but it was never legible. part number on the negative battery cable - Note the level of gloss on this wheelwell. It is much glossier than I had previously imagined an original to be. I'll take this into consideration next time I do this. Any additions to this thread are welcome! I love to see these details. Has anyone done a 'Factory Correct' restoration? I never see overspray on anyone's vac advance cans
  15. Does anyone have a good picture of how their trunk jack/spare tire is set in the trunk? I forgot to take note when I ripped everything out of the 60. Thanks!
  16. Sure thing, Steve! My green 4 door had the same problem, but it had a rust hole in the channel. I also gobbed a bunch of silicone in the channel before I installed the stainless, and that fixed my leak problem. I'd rather not have to do that to this car.
  17. Pete, let me know if you need info for the 71-72 Fullsize article. I'm anxious to get this month's Bugle!
  18. Welp, it's done. I did a claybar treatment on the paint to remove any dust or overspray I got on the car while I was working on it. Those claybars do wonders on paint!! It's slick as snot now....and a little show car glaze on top of that does a paint job good. There is a small vibration in the steering, but it feels like there is still air in the pump/box, and or the new seals are still a little dry. I may end up getting the car back in it does not quit. The passenger side windshield fogged up when I fired it up this morning, but it quit after a minute or two. I pulled off the cover under the dash, and saw where coolant was coming out. It was at the heater control valve. I watched it to see if it would continue to leak, and I saw nothing. I ran the car a few more times after that and looked every time, and didn't see any more seepage. Maybe it sealed itself back up? I would really hate to have to pull that whole mess out again. Talk about a pain in the butt!! Just a few pictures for an overview: This is really a pretty car.
