1. I haven't been to the forums for a long time now. A fellow from Michigan ahd come to my home in Indiana and purchace my Reatta from me on the spot. I informed him of this forum and other reata sites. I am hoping this person sees this topic. I would kina like to know what is going on with "RED" these days.
2. I would say to do it in Kokomo, Indiana again. Seemed to be a good turn out of Reatta's there in '02.
3. I know to stay away from the '84's(first year of production). I had two '85's one being a SE and the other a GT. I also had a '87 GT, the '87 being my favorite. I was the aero body Fiero-looked awesome. The only bad thing about the cars I would have to say would be the front end lift it had at speeds over 100mph. Felt super losse(floaty) up front. I had fun with mine and if you guys get one, I'm sure you will also. Maybe you should push a Reatta on him.
4. I would recomend that you go ahead and find u a 3800 to put in your car or have the existing engine rebuilt. And since it has so many miles on her, you don't have to leave the motor stock. Thats just me. It would be alot easier to sell it and find you a nicer one and drive it. But just don't give up on driving Reattas, there a real attention getter.
5. Whats the good word on the door handle?
6. Would you happen to have a driver side exterior door handle? Also what kind of condition is the taillight assembly in?
7. Been a while since my last post. Haven't visited the forum in a while. As of monday, my '90 had it's 200,000 mile "birthday" also. Still no smoke, ticking, or rattling. Knock on wood.
8. I would have to say NO. That would be kind of like mixing 5w30 and 10w40 together in your crankcase. A big no no.
9. So how did the "day time running lights" work? I imagine it would be the driving lamps on all the time, right? Just curious. I can't seem to keep the bulbs from blowing out in mine. The only problem I have as of now at 199,455 miles.
10. My '90 key holes light up. I was also under the impression that '89 was the last year for that, untill one night my wife noticed it while lifting the door handle while it was still locked. They do come on when int. lights come on.
11. Looks like a warmed up small block Chevy! I would like to know what type of car is housing it. It looks like to me like a Chevy II "Deuce" Thats about how mine looks anyway Also looks like it has a bottle of go-go juice plummed to it
12. Corvair? I hope it is at least a spyder. Good luck
13. ALF, tell JJ to put a "R" logo on the hood, he'll sell it faster that way
14. Right here in Wabash, In. there is a '90 Maui Blue with tan top and tan leather. A retired dentist owns it.
15. I was looking at the Reatta's you guys have posted earlier. They are really nice looking cars. It kinda makes me want to delete the photos of mine of maybe stick them in another gallery. My Reatta is not worthy to be in the same catergory as yours.
16. Wow!!! You just do not see too many "original" Impala's anymore. Very very nice. I sold my baby about two years ago ('67 Impala) Far from origial but I spent alot of time on her. With a 350 LT1/6-speed from a '97 Firebird and a sweet white pearl with gohst flame paint, it was my favorite!! Should not have ever got married!!! Great '61!!!
17. One beautiful Vette!! My grandfather had a red '57 "fuelie". He only let me drive it one time- to my Senior prom when I was in school. Good Times!!
18. I've used a old tooth brush to clean in throttle-- works great, don't have to worry about rag comming off screwdriver and gouging housing, valve, etc.
19. You had a factory amp? or are you talking about the little crossover deal that separates the two speakers in the door? Why did it take Best Buy 6 Hours to install the amp? Sounds scary.
20. Your Interior light switch, park lights, headlights, and driving lights switch are all in one unit. You have to replace the hole thing. I went to my local dealership and I ordered it through there. It cost right around $130.00. That was about 9 months ago.
21. Yeah, put the body up on a Blazer chassis then lift it 6 to 12 inches. I just do not understand how you could think that the Reatta would look good up in the air. I do have to say that this is the first time I seen some one post wanting to lift one and not lower one. What ever floats your boat I guess. There is no kit to do this modification. You'll just have to fabricate a way to put it on a exsisting 4X4 chassis. I can see it now, Blazer chassis, 454 Big Block, 12" lift, and some 38"-44" TSL Thornbirds sticking out of the fenders. I would like to see the judges face when you roll up in a Buick Nationals event...Priceless.
22. I have never had good luck with Rockford speakers. They tend to blow out on me rather quickly. Also they are not the cleanest sounding speaker on the market. If you do not want to spend alot of money I might check into Kenwood, Polk Audio, or maybe even Boston. I haven't really checked on componet speakers in a while so I do not know off hand what there rated at. I like running the JL Audio and M B Quart. Those are just my thoughts.
23. This is just my opinion, I'm sure I will catch some flack for this but here goes. I do not think the white walls look good on our Reattas. I feel that white walls only look good on old classic cars that are restored to "showroom" condition. I mean cars from the 1900's up to the mid 1960's. Black walls have always been my preference. But in all honesty, you need to choose a tire that you like, not what a couple of people like. If you like the looks of a white wall tire and think it will look great on your car, I say go for it. I posted a couple of pictures of my coupe in the photo gallery with my new wheels bolted on. Some people may not like the wheel I chose, but I liked them. Who knows, the white wall might look pretty good on a Black Reatta and you just may be a trend setter
24. Thanks for pointing that out. I posted some picks of my 198,000 daily driver for you guys to point and laugh at.
25. From the album: Buick Reatta
