hi guys i just went to walmarts and bought their oil filter, their synthetic oil, and marvel mystery oil all for around 17 dollars. i love my 89

living in ny i get poor stop and go mileage around 15, but on the highway 26 or so. many things affect mpg. tire pressure, u should check that and keep them up to spec. i use synthetic oil which u should consider , that would give a small increase as well. i think the rapid fire plugs , pcv, oxygen sensor, and air filter all are major items. plug wires etc. remember our reattas are heavy and the 3800 a large six so u cant expect miracles. good luck i love mine.

all road test evidence suggests the superiority of the synthetics. they do actually save a small ammount of money by being more slippery. yes, my 89' did develope a minor valve cover leak but its so minor , not to be a problem at all. i will continue using synthetic oil. my 89' has 178,000 on her and the engine runs new. it idles and pulls like brand new. tc

true , i started using mobil 1 in 77 and that was what they said then. it was 3 plus a quart. i am sure if u changed filters and top off u would be good for a yr.

thanks Padgett, i also use reg gas in my 89. i dont know about the synthetic for sure but all research says u would more than save the extra dough on gas mileage improvements.

THANK YOU , I AM BUYING THE WALMART SYNTHETIC. ITS INEXPENSIVE AND I ASSUME BETTER THAN DINO OIL. HOW CAN U GO WRONG FOR THAT PRICE?? TC

Hi guys, its about that time of year to change my oil and filter again. has anyone had experience with Walmarts synthetic. it on sale for like $11.50 for a 5 gallon jug. that seems real low. and its got the same rating as the mobil one i have used for yrs. let me know if u think its a good choice? tc

i finished the rear pads and rotors. glad i wont have to soon. its nothing like the front. i did not enjoy it. although the results are good. thanks for all the input. tc

i am having trouble with my rear brakes . i took one caliper bolt off, the second is blocked by the parking brake assembley. i took off the one nut . how do i take the second caliper bolt off? thanks

hi guys, i have changed front pads and rotors on my 89 reatta previously. how different is the rear ? i assume i have to work around the parking brake cable. thanks guys.

driving my 89 today and ... the top dome light comes on then the trunk release and power door locks ,, in continuous rythum. had to discon the negative batt terminal and it reset. whats wrong???

to me wht the reatta isn't is a sports car. personal luxury ? i doubt it. its a quirky unusual great looking two seater that buick took a chance on and lost money. i love the engine.

NO , I DONT HEAR THE MOTOR RUN AT ALL. IT IS FROZEN IN THE POSITION ITS IN . THE RADIO WORKS BUT RECEPTION IS POOR DUE TO THE FACT THE ANTENNA IS SO LOW. THANKS TC

HI GUYS, I HAVE AN 89 AND THE PROBLEM IS THE POWER ANTENNA. I HAD IT REPLACED TWO YRS AGO. RECENTLY IT STOPPED BEFORE IT RETRACTED. IT STICKS UP ABOUT 12 INCHES FROM REAR DECK. DOES THIS HAVE A RELAY? IT WONT GO UP OR DOWN.

i have an 89 and use the 14s . the engine has 177k and runs new!!

this one is weird. i have an 89 . once every six mths or so something weird happens. either the trunk release goes off continually or the door looks. now what i have to do to stop this is disconnect the battery terminal. then it resets itself and stops. if i didnt do that it would continue until the battery dies, which did happen the first time. anyone experience this? or am i the lucky one.

thanks Padgett but it always only worked the trunk. now it doesnt do a thing since i installed a new battery.

HI GUYS I JUST INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY ON MY 89. I FORGOT HOW TO PROGRAM THE REMOTE . IT ONLY OPENED THE TRUNK , BUT THATS FINE. DOES ANYONE REMEMBER??
