    Gm's future

i am sorry to say its true for gm . although i dont know how the economy could deal with it, if they would go bankrupt. i was always a gm man. loved their products. but, their market share dropped over ten pts lately. and ford and gm have put too much emphasis on trucks large suvs. they forgot about the american family car. meanwhile the koreans are comming up strong and japanese are still strong here. the suvs were basically wasteful and stupid. way too large, heavy and clumsy. but gm and ford went after the quick profits they provided without a long range plan.shame on them for losing the american ppl to japanese and korean makers. plus, guys the chinese are comming!!!!!!!
  2. i am selling my 89' have had her for 4 yrs. 182 k black , w/ burgundy interior. has the sunroof and power seats option. engine and tranny run new . no leaks or oil burning. touchscreen is what it is. ( blank) body and interior good condition. make an offer to tc11003@hotmail.com thanks tony
  3. i dont think changing the oil with an decent oil and/or filter would ( by itself ) cause ticking . i would immediately check , as i always do, running the car after an oil change and looking under to make sure nothing is leaking. that said . this shouldnt happen. even if it was a no name oil. something has occured other than is related to the oil and filter. i do know however , that i had a mazda once that had high miles and i had to use a 20 w -50 weight in order to avoid ticking. did the car tick at all prior to the oil change??
  4. i am selling my 89 . black / w burgundy interior. has sunroof and power seats option. 182k. engine and tranny is like new . use syn oil, rapidfires and all brakes and rotors are new. car has been daily driver and runs strong. body and int in good condition. contact me at tc11003@hotmail.com .
  5. happened once to me in thunder storm. i did wht u did and it was fine.
  6. i would try disconnecting the neg battery cable. maybe things will reset. i have done this with my 89 and it worked. good luck
  7. i am selling my 89, it is black with burgundy interior. has sunroof. 182 k and runs excellent. its my daily driver, overall in very good shape. the engine is srong as new. email me at tc11003@hotmail.com . best offer takes her . new york area.
  8. u guys cant live in ny. if i put my 89 in neutral each time i hit a stop light i would have callouses!!!!!!!!
  9. i have had my 89 for 4 yrs now , i do drive it daily. i like the car alot , have 182 k on her, . i have had the problems that seem common to our cars touchescreen struts headlights stuck up some miscellaneous elect issues all in all the car is very reliable considering the age. i have done much maintenance my self . i would recommend this car to anyone. i personally need a new car now because i have to rely on it daily to get to work. good luck
  10. i would not do that. i may shift into neutral if i was at a long stop ( not a light) i think it would add wear and tear on our tranny to do that at every stop light. after all i live in ny. just my .02
  11. i think u will , my son is your height and he fit fine in my 89
  12. i am selling my 89 black with burgundy interior. 182 k miles on her . maintained with syn oil, rapidfires, and great running . body and interior good shape. my daily driver. wht doesnt work= touchescreen, casette, headlights stuck up, . a/c works fine and sunroof works too. engine runs great , doesnt use oil. and tranny is 30k old. $2500 takes her.
  13. i would check the obvious, air filter, plugs, wires , gas filter, things that could affect the smooth starting. other than that i would guess fuel pump.
  14. i may be wanting to sell her, reluctantly. black 89 with red interior and sunroof. 182k . here is what doesnt work= touchscreen, headlights are up, cig lighter, casette player, gas guage, the engine runs perfect and tranny too, it doesnt burn oil or leak . i use syn oil and maintain her. rapidfires and all filters etc. any offers? btw body is good and interior although interior is showing age.
  15. glad it worked, i had some problem and solution with my 89, rapidfires and good wires are a cheap fix and help save gas.

very cool , but like padgett says , where is the turbo?
  19. thts my point what was buick thinking. our 3800 engines are workhorses but lack some grunt. especially for the $26 or so thous they got for them.
  20. i have an 89 and really appreciate this car. it has 182 k and the engine runs almost new. my question is? at the time of production, could buick have put a more potent powerplant in our reattas?? what would have been available? the blown 3.8 may have been too much for the front wheel drive ? i think what killed the reatta project was not the looks or quality , i think what killed her was the lack of sheer performance and maybe the cost. what do u guys think?
  21. as a person , i am so sorry to hear u in such pain. i dont know what happened or how it got like this, but i hope u feel better somehow.
  22. THIS IS INTERESTING . I READ THE ARTICLE , BUT SO MANY ARTICLES ARE WRITTEN ABOUT , ADDITIVES, THE TORNADO ETC. WHAT ARE WE TO BELIEVE ? PLUS I DONT WANT TO DAMAGE MY ENGINE OR FUEL SYSTEM. WHAT DO U GUYS THINK??
  23. weak or fouled plugs could be the culprit. and wouldnt show when mixture is richer at start.
  24. is it possible that american suspension and shocks were so inferior to imports that there was a built in height allowing for the bottoming out.
